    In beta I notice a high amount of bad job combos and on the forums people talking about combo's they going to use and I thought I would do everyone a favor and list the most horrible job combos that should never be used no matter what. I know alot of you will say "Hey I can be whatever I want!" thats true but expect to die alot, be useless and never ever get a group if you use any of these combo's.

    Warrior/Whitemage - I am going to list this first cause I see it alot. With whitemage sub for a melee you have about 30mp at lvl20 with whitemage at lvl10 sub so you can cast 2 cures then out of mp and gain no good skills or stat bonus it sucks horrible don't use it and stay away from anyone who does. This also goes for subbing any other mage classes as Warrior and yes that means redmage too which is the worse.

    Warrior/BeastTamer - Horrible I have to say worst combo that can be thought up it adds nothing at all with beasttamer subbed you can't tame nothing and get no good bonus.

    BLM/WHM/SUM - Don't sub any melee as a mage you are not meant for combat that extra attack or defensive not going to help you, you will still die in 2hits and still hit for 5dmg if your lucky.

    Thief/Anymage - Same thing as warrior little mp no bonus it sucks don't sub any mage class as melee.

    Thief/Dark knight - You gain a little attack no good skills and no mp at all at lvl30 be lucky to have 20mp.

    Thief/Paladin - You gain a little defensive which will barely help you as a thief since your defensive will still suck and it adds no good skills and so little mp.

    Thief/BeastTamer - Horrible horrible you gain nothing can't tame shit.

    Monk/Anymage - Again Don't sub mage class as melee you will have no mp no stat bonus no good skills gained.

    Monk/Dark knight - You gain a little attack no good skills and no mp at all at lvl30 be lucky to have 20mp.

    Monk/Paladin - You gain a little defensive which will barely help you as a monk since your defensive will still suck and it adds no good skills and so little mp.

    Monk/BeastTamer - I can't get this across enough Do not sub Beasttamer.

    Monk/Ranger - Gain nothing its useless.

    Paladin/AnyClassbeside Warrior - Thats right if your a paladin don't sub any class but warrior your a pure tank you don't do dmg you don't heal you stand there and get hit so without provoke your nothing.

    Darkknight/Anymage - Again don't sub a mage as a melee don't even think about it.

    Darkknight/Paladin - Some people think this combo would be good since you will have good attack and good defensive WRONG. You will have shitty defensive still have no good skills that will help and no boost to stats you can use.

    Darkknight/beasttamer - I have to stress THIS DO NOT SUB BEASTTAMER.

    Darkknight/Ranger - Gain a little more power to bow/gun no good skills beside scan no good stat bonus it useless.

    Redmage/Thief - Don't add any mp or good stat bonus to redmage and only good skill it adds is sneak attack and gil making skills.

    Redmage/Paladin or Darkknight - They barely add any mp no good skills for redmage no good stats bonus.

    Redmage/Beasttamer - DON"T SUB IT.

    Redmage/Ranger - You gain nothing but more power using a bow/gun.

    Ranger/Anymage - DON'T SUB MAGE AS MELEE.

    Ranger/Beasttamer - This is really bad combo and I seen someone use it, it was painful to watch don't do it for the love of god.

    Beasttamer/Anymage - Do I need to say it again?

    Anyway, I'm not flaming. You make some valid points. All I'm saying is after a post like that you should end it with, "I love bunnies." You know, just to keep it emotionally balanced.

    Oh yeah, and you forgot to mention. DON'T SUB BEAST TAMER!!

        Intresting post ....

        but I thought subing Bst master for some jobs might be nice.... the comment about no bst sub is just intresting becasue it is known to sub BST to fight BCNM 40s ... ( where BST lv is abouve 40)

        and comment about PLD/WHM if u r taru u are still good so is drk/blm ...

        RDM ranger and rdm theif are very playable
        oh ...and BST/WHM is the most common combo for BST when solo ~~~ ( which is what they really do anyways)

          sounds like you have had some bad experiences,
          trust me though some of those combos do suck , BUt you need to understand that drk/anymage is okay,cept summoner maybe.
          rdm as a sub is okay
          pld/whm or rdm is okay for solo, PT should be war for taunt.
          RNG as sub works for solo play if you wanna use the ws.
          Rng/thf combo is 100% useful. unless you are competing against a rng/thf.

          some points are valid , but most have already been disproved and work very well.

          YES there are melees that CAN and SHOULD sub mage type sj. IF pld is in PT he should 100% get all aggro.

          So some sjs suck and some dont , ITS the players skill that determines outcome , Trust me on this.

            hi hi

            um...im sorry ive never played the game...but im hoping to prepare for its release
            and...i have a question i hope guys can answer it for me

            how does a monk/warrior fare compared to a paladin/warrior in terms of tanking??? i was thinking...the monk/warrior will have more hp (right?) and...the two will have the same amount of vit...but...the monk wont be able to wear armors like the paladins and the paladin will have a bit of mp to heal himself with (will the monk have a dodge rate significant enough to make up for what he lacks??? is chakra a "significant" healing force?)

            i hope my question is not a stupid one and i will great appreciate guys sparing a bit of their time to answer it the more in-depth the better!!!

              During PT monks are rarely used to be the prime Taunter for alot of reasons like low defence compare with PLD and ETC... Infact, monks are used as demage dealer.

              PLD is by far the best taunter due to the high VAT, access the the best armors in the game and the high lv of weapon parry and shield guard skill. on top of that, all its skills are used for make it a even better taunter.

              As a Monk war, the time you taunt will be when PLD is really low on HP ... as low as 20% depends on the monster you are fighting.

                  I agree with basically all of those you stated however WAR/WHM is actually a pretty useful combo - some call it the poor mans paladin but i've been PTing with a couple WAR/WHM lately and as long as they have ballad and say maybe refresh they actually serve as good emergency healers or - build hate well by curing others. Overall i'd rather have a PLD/WAR but since WAR/WHM focuses a bit more on atk versus def it ends up working a bit better in some cases.

                    tazirai I agree totally with Ranger/Thief or Thief/ranger thats a pretty good combo which is why i didn't list it but the others I seen used and it was not pretty. But I have to disagree on

                    No matter how good a player is he can't make up for a bad combo if your a monk/redmage (Which I seen god was it horrible) he at lvl22 had 30mp I am sorry theres nothing you can do to make that good or WHM/monk theres nothing to make up for that.

                    Nodachi grouping with WAR/WHM I notice they take more dmg and do less then WAR/monk or WAR/thief for solo WAR/WHM is good.

                      I think you see so many war/whm is because they aren't to lvl 30 yet for when they become pld. that way, when they switch to pld, their sub (assuming its war) is already 30, plus, they have gained some levels in healing and holy magic.

                          It's more important to actually have fun when you're playing a game than it is to stress out about what other people are doing.



                          If someone plays horribly or makes bad decisions, it doesn't piss me off as much as someone insulting the way I play or abandoning me after I help them.

                          I'm gonna hop back on with my Monk/blm now (j/k).

                              That's true - but those melee subs can't heal atol. Plus it's more effective in the later levels not so much in the 20s.
