what is the best class combo for power and defense?

What would be the best two combo of classes so that i can take a lot of damage and deal a lot out to. any class combo would help including the advance classes, or at least a combo close to what is listed above.

hmmm you want to be able to "hold your own" huh....well one job comes to mind Sam/War these guys are really good Ws users which is crazy dmg plus there Vit isnt that bad either so you'd be able to give out the dmg and recieve my friend win win situation

try warrior. warrior has both attack boost and defense boost. got quite a nice stats on both fields and can use many many weapons.

WAR's the way to go

Good Attack...
Good Defense...
They get bonuses for both as passives...
One of the classes where all of their active abilities are actually useful:sweat:

as for a sub...try SAM...
Got some nice abilities and stat bonuses...but...
once you get the TP charge at SAM 30 for sub, you'll ascend to godliness...

Well you want to be a Warrior for sure, and WAR/SAM would be a good combo for what you want, but I think WAR/MNK would be better. Here's why:

With a Warrior you already get:

-Physical Defense Power Up
-Resist Virus
-Double Attack
-Physical Attack Power Up
-Resist Virus

Add a Monk and you add:

-Martial Arts
-Counter 10
-HP Max Up
-Martial Arts
-Martial Arts
-HP Max Up
-Martial Arts
-HP Max Up
-Martial Arts

With a Samurai:

-Resist Blind
-Store TP
-Demon Killer

So I think the monk would give you better stats for a really good defender attacker. As for active abilites:

Warrior already has:

-Mighty Strike
-Provocation - A nessicity of defense
-Berserk - Awesome for attackers
-Defender - Awesome for defense
-War Cry - Good for attackers
-Aggressor - Good for attackers

Monk:
-Accumulate
-Evasion
-Concentrate
-Chakara
-Energy Projectile
-Alarmed

Pretty much all these will make you a better attacker plus with Chakra you can heal.

Sam:
-Protection Circle - Good for defense
-Heart Eye - Evasion up basically
-Silent Concentration - The only skill worth using a Samurai for

With the SAM you'll get to do WS like crazy but for everything else, I think the WAR/MNK is a more solid combo.

Your sub can only be half of your main, so don't list all of the MNKs or SAMs abilities because he won't get all of them. I think MNK is good, but so is SAM so I guess you could level them both, MNK till WAR is 30 then level SAM then just evel MNK and SAM as your WAR levels.

Perhaps more solid, but less concentrated...

I was just trying to answer what he wanted, plus it's stupid to not have a sub at 18 so it's not like he can't lv all 3. I was just trying to give him good offense and Defense, and if he subbed SAM, he'd have to be a lv 60 to even notice the TP gain. That and he never said he wouldn't use grapple. I've only seen earlier lv monks, but the grapple I saw was doing good damge.
