Everyone seems to agree that they make the WORST fighters in the game, but I'm curious as to why there are SO many pics of Melee AF Tarus. I mean they must have some kick ass rings and stuff to be able to be halfway decent fighters right? Anyone ever PTed with one? I'm curious as to how one does in battle. Like a DRK/WAR Taru for example.

Re:
Oh yes, Tarus can be brought up to be decent fighters...just like Galkas can be brought up to be decent mages, etc. But no matter how good an "unusual" combo (like a Taru fighter or a Galka mage) can become, other races that have the stats to suit the job will always be better. All Nations: Rank 10

I'm sure I've partied with a great amount of them, but I only remember one specificly. It was a tarutaru Monk and it was ok. I wasn't able to watch the damage dealt by him and the other monk in our party, but I know it had to be less because he was subbing red mage. Most TaruTaru melee will sub a mage job to give them some edge. But anyways the most notable thing was that he had much less health then the other monk at the same level. Other than that it wasn't too bad.

for me, job has more meaning than race
a warrior will always be a warrior. Of course tarutaru will have less HP but still, he is a warrior and is ready 100% to perform what a warrior should perform.
a whitemage Galka, as well, is a whitemage. if he gets hit he's done and he can't tank. he will be performing whitemage task as same as tarutaru whitemages.
well, in comparison however.... a tanking taru is more useful than a mage Glaka to me ^^ MP means a lot to the party, more than HP most of the time. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Bloody Chaos, don't even get me started.
BEING a taru melee with no mage jobs above level 8, I have to say it's incredible ammounts of fun and I still can do delicious ammounts of damage.
However, on the other end of the spectrum, tarus don't take damage well. So jobs like Warrior or Paladin don't suit them too well, yet they're still do-able. But other melee-oriented jobs such as Dragoon or Samurai or Dark Knight, Thief, or what have you, do a tarutaru just fine.
Anyone who knows me knows that the thing I hate most in the world of Vana'diel are those who discriminate (mainly for PT invites) based on your character's race. I like to believe that players can raise their character to be whatever they damn well please.

cobalt kaze said it best on my server
its the same if one subs non whm for their sumoner i see it alot and thats what im doing.
Also i get alot of PT invites and IF someone was dumb enuff to discriminate then I speak enough jpanese to hold a conversation and make my own PT.
too many people who play this game rely on the invites of others , make your own PT if you feelleft out.
This goes for both race and job .
Just keep in mind the situation you place the PT in.It's Official Promathia Hates me....
