Even more important, configure FRAPS to save the movie to a different HDD (physical HDD, not just a different partition) than the one where you have your game and system files installed, if available.

That alone removes the lag and other annoying access related slowdowns many people FRAPSing things suffer from.




PS > Try saving the clip to a different disk first and check your performance. If you still have significant slowdowns then Yggy's suggestion should solve it.

Search for a free download of Fraps video capture software. Install... follow the VERY simple instructions in order to record gameplay videos of anything you play (assuming you play on PC). It seems confusing for only a second but it's actually very user friendly with a stupid-proof control panel.

If you plan to use it, PRO-TIP: Set it to record in Half-screen mode... not full screen. If you record FFXI video in full screen mode it comes out with normal speed sound and 1/3 speed video. So far I've found no fix for this aside from capturing in half-screen mode.

I just got my ass handed to me. I rolled in, applied some debuffs, renewed Utsusemi and then BAM! Asuran Fists. I went from full HP and a complete set of defensive buffs to face down in the dirt without even getting a chance to drop some damage on the little imp. I don't think I'm going to bother trying to solo him a second time.

Unless he's susceptible to Bind, Gravity or Break. But SE hasn't let anything but fodder mobs be susceptible to that in years.

Went in after work last night.

x4 MNK/SAM, x1 MNK/WAR & me on SMN/RDM.

Buffed with Protect 3 and Shell 2 on everyone. Used Earthen Ward (Titan - SS), Ecliptic Howl (Fenrir - All Stats +), Noctoshield (Diabolos - Phalanx) and finished with Hastega (Garuda - duh).

MNK/WAR buffed with Warcry, Aggressor, Boost and Berserk. The others only used Boost/meditate/dd food.

*all buffs were done before entering the fight*

Once buffed, we entered and all 5 MNKs engaged the Taru. I immediately popped Astral Flow and used Alexander's Perfect Defense.

All 5 MNKs popped Hundred fists and the fight was over in 45 seconds. Set the record for Valefor. No Tail used. Complete decimation... poor little guy didn't stand a chance.

I considered using Convert and resummoning Garuda to help out... but Tutori was already at 70% health by the time Alexander had vanished so I didn't think it was worth it. Had I know we would set the record, I might have done it just to edge in a few more seconds.

According to BG having a SCH + items makes the fight a complete joke (Accesion Phalanx & Embrava).

SMN helps as well for Alexander.
