  • Windurst Missions

No disrespect to the site owners or whoever wrote the current guide for the Windurst missions 1-4, but they're somewhat innacurate (especially in the proximity of mission 4). Thus, I wrote a quick guide to windurst 1-4 for whoever's having trouble. The least it will do is correct any confusion. I'll go to the trouble of adding pics of npcs and locations, etc later. If I have made any mistakes, please tell me ^^

    Windurst Mission 1

    Activating
To activate, talk to the gate guard, and then head to the Orastery (which is located in Port Windurst) and talk to the left taru-taru that's located on the stage. You'll get a cutscene, and the mission has now been activated.

    Inner Haruto
    1. Now it's time to head to Inner Haruto. Head out of Windurst to East Sarubaruta. Head to about the middle of the map (you have to cross the river) and then head to the east. You should see a structure that is somewhat similar to a tree, but it has a door. This is the entrance to Inner Haruto.

    2. Once inside, just keep following the hallways until you reach a circular hallway (the walls aren't round). Once there, circle around to the middle and you'll see a section of a wall that is a slightly different color. Select it, press circle, and it should open. Follow the hall and hang a left (the right path is a dead end). You'll eventually come across a door named "Door of the Magical Gizmo", so open it and you'll be treated to a cutscene.

    3. After the cutscene, return to the circular hall. You probably noticed the shrine-like structures on your way to the cracked wall. These are the Magical Gizmos. To complete the mission, you need to activate them. There are two in the main circular hall, and four in rooms that break away from the circular hall, for a total of six Magical Gizmos to be activated. Once you do that, head back to Windurst.

    4. Report back to the same taru-taru in the Orastery, and you'll get a cutscene. Congrats, you've just completed your first mission!

    Windurst Mission 2

    Activating
Again, get the mission from one of the gate guards first. Now head to Windurst Woods and head to the Manustery to activate the mission.

    Outer Haruto
    1. So head into East Sarubaruta again, but instead head into the southeast section of the map this time. After making your way to the southeast, you should see a structure similar to that of the Inner Haruto entrance. Enter it, and you're in Outer Haruto.

    2. You should know what to do here, it's quite similar to the first mission. Just make sure you talk to the guard here on your way in. Head down the ruins until you start seeing Magical Gizmos. There are a few in some cracked walls, so watch out for the discoloration. In one of the cracked walls, there is another "Door of the Magical Gizmo." After activating the six Magical Gizmos, head back to the "Door of the Magical Gizmo" and enter it. Click the button on the wall for a cutscene.

    3. Now examine the Gizmos once again to recollect whatever you put on them. Leave the ruins, and you'll get a cutscene on your way out. Once you've done that, head back to Windurst and report to the taru-taru. Mission 2 is now complete.

    Windurst Mission 3

    Activating
Once again, get the mission from one of the gate guards. Now, head to Windurst Waters and talk to Leepe-Hoppe of the roof of the Rhinostery. You'll get a cutscene, at which you'll get two items (rations), and the mission is activated.

    Giddeus
    1. To get to Giddeus, head out to West Sarubaruta. You'll see how the map has a exit on the far west of the map, but there's no name for it. That's Giddeus. Make your way over there. Giddeus is the first semi-hard to navigate area in the missions, so it might help to have a map (you can buy one in Windurst).

    2. Now head through the maze until you reach a NPC Yagudo guarding a cave. Chances are you'll reach Laa Mozi first. Talk to him, and you'll give him the rations. Now, do not head into the cave. There's some dangerous higher level Yagudos in there. Instead, keep heading into the maze until you come across a second Yagudo guarding a cave. Give him the rations, and get out of Giddeus and return to Windurst.

    3. Talk to Leepe-Hoppe again, and you'll get a cutscene. You're almost done. Head to one of the gate guards to officially end the mission. And that's how you obtain Rank 2.

    Windurst Mission 4

    Activating
This is the first tricky mission, and also the longest one yet. You'll have to trade in crystals to the W.W. gate guard for this mission to show up. Then go to the mission gate guards to be briefed. First, head to the Opistery in Windurst Waters. Talk to Tosuka-Porika there. After the cutscene, head to Windurst Woods, and then to Mithra Grove (which is at the top right of the map). At the very top of the map you'll find Nanaa Mingho. Talk to her to activate the intial mission.

    Shakhrami
    1. This is where the fun begins. Get a map, first of all. You'll have a hell of a time without one. Secondy, if you're low level, get a PT going, or you won't make it out of there alive. I solo'd this with a level 20/10 WHM/BM, and I had a bit of trouble. You'll have to avoid a lot of aggros down there, some tough, some not so tough. Just to be safe, try and get a PT going. That said, head out into West Sarubaruta, then into Taronghi Canyon. Head into the northeast section of the map, and you should come across a small cave leading into Shakhrami.

    2. Your objective here is to examine the four Fossil Rocks located in H-5. But first, you have to locate G-6, which leads down to H-5 (G-6 is elevated, there's a small ramp down to H-5). If you don't have a map, or a really keen sense of direction, you'll most likely get lost down here. If you start seeing really difficult monster, you're going the wrong way. For the most part you'll see Goblin Butcher and Ambushers, with the occasional Ghoul around. Beware of scorpions. Once you've reached H-5, examine the four Fossil Rocks. Now get the hell out. Good luck with that.

    3. Well you've got the painful part of the mission done. Now head back to Windurst (long walk) and head to Nanaa Mingho again. Now it's time for part two.

    Return to Inner Haruto
    1. Remember Inner Haruto from Mission 1? Good, go back there. This time, ignore all the magical gizmos. Instead, head into the bottom right room in the circular room. There should be a cracked wall, and it will lead into a cavern.

    2. Make your way through the cavern. If you start seeing beetles along the way, turn around, you're going the wrong way. Keep progressing until you find a wooden door labeled "Mahagony Door." Open it for an important cutscene. Afterwards, get out of Inner Haruto, and back to Windurst.

    3. Talk to Nanaa and Tosuka again. They'll say some lines, but nothing important. For the next cutscene, head to House of the Hero in Windurst Walls (located in the northwest of the map). Open the door, and Ajido-Morido will be waiting there with a book and a cutscene. After that, head to Tasuka-Porika again to end the mission.

Currenty on M6, will write up a guide for it later.

    M6

As requested by Phelix of KaizakuDan~ a brief M6 explanation.

First of all. You'll need a Chocobo or you're in for a lot of walking. You'll need a level 20 character to complete this mission anyway, if you're going to PT with those around the same level. You can solo this at around 30~40, depending on your class.

There are two methods of this quest, but I'll just post the one I did. Once you've completed this mission, you can aid others in its completion. However, if you do the method I used, you can only do this mission with others from Windurst. It's complicated, I know.

    Activation
Same as usual, talk to the gate guard. However, make sure you get M6 and not M5. The characters for M6 are as follows: ŽO‘å‹_?‘. If you don't see that, you need to trade in more crystals. Afterwards, head to the Windurst Walls. You know that big tree? Yeah the one in the middle. You can't miss it. Head in there, and find a NPC named Kupipi. You'll get a cutscene. Once you've finished talking, go to the Chocobo stables and head to Bastok. There's two ways to do this, as follows for the traveling impaired:

Windurst > East Sarubaruta > Torongi Canyon > Mountains to the Northwest of Canyon > Sauromage > Jueno > Rolanberry > Pashow > Konschat > North Gusta > South Gusta > Bastok

    or

Windurst > East Sarubaruta > Torongi Canyon > Bub (East exit of Canyon) > Mauhra > Ship from Mauhra to Selbina > Selbina > Konschat > North Gusta > South Gusta > Bastok

Notes: The first option, you'll probably have to head into Jueno to switch Chocobos unless you feel like walking from roughly North Gusta to Bastok. For the second option, you have to get off your chocobo for the boat. There's no stable in Selbina, so you'll have to walk from Selbina to Bastok.

    Bastok
This part of the mission is simple, albeit a bit time consuming. Once in Bastok, head to the Bastok Metalworks. Then head to the Windurst Embassy on the second floor. Once there, talk to Patt-Pott in the back room. Cutscene. Now head to the President's Office, and enter the first room on the right and talk to Pius (no cutscene). After that, head to the Eatery (same floor as office and embassy) and talk to Grohm. He'll give you a pick. Now head to the Knick Knack item shop in Bastok Mines, and into the back room. One of the NPCs there will be selling the same item Grohm gave you. Buy 4, just to be safe. If you haven't gotten a map of Palborough yet, buy it now from one of the NPC map vendors for 600 gil (check Ping's game notes for exact NPC location). the Now head into North Gustaberg via Port Bastok, and into the far Northeast corner to enter the Palborough Mines.

    Palborough
If you've followed my advice, you'll be around level 20 when you're doing this mission, making this part relativly easy. The most dangerous enemies here are quadavs, and if they do aggro (they didn't against me as a lvl 21 WHM), you should be able to win with ease. Now, once in Palborough, head to F-7. There should be a digging area in the room. Select it, and trade one of the picks to it. It might take a few times, but but you'll get a rock from trading the pick to the spot. Once you have the rock, head to the middle of the second level of area, and to the machine that's there. Trade the rock to the slot that's there, and then pull the lever. Continue left from the machine, which will lead you further into the mines. You'll end up under the machine. Pull the lever that's there and retrieve the product of what the machine made. Now head back to the embassy and trade the product to the ambassador. You've completed the mission... well the Bastok part anyway.

    San
You're not done yet. Pack up your Chocobo and head to San. There's only one route this time:

Bastok > South Gusta > North Gusta > Konschat > La Thiene > West Ronfaure > Sandoria

Now head to the Windurst Embassy in North San, and talk to the taru in charge of it. He'll ask you to talk to Halver. He's in the large castle of the same map. Head into it, and he's in the first room. After talking to him, gather a PT and head to Yuggoh (sp) and enter the burnig circle within the area. Time to fight the dragon. After you've done this, report back to Windurst, and you're finished. Rank 3!

Note: I'm a bit unsure about the last part, but that's what I gather from some Japanese translation. I've only done up to talking to Halver now, so I'll fill in any missing parts leading up to the dragon after I finish.
