Returning after 5 years..should I start over?

Hello Everyone. I've been out 5 years, and can't fight it anymore, I'm coming home. My char Was Pallom on Kujata. 60ish RDM, with a few other classes at 40. Rank 5, Full AF RDM. Should I just start over, or will getting all that this time around be a lot harder? I never got to do any Zilart missions, see SKY, or anything like that before. I really want to explore the content again, but am wondering if It will be 3x as hard to get Rank up and groups for old missions. Should I start over?

If you want to start over, it's pretty much easier than it ever was before (particularly if you get the Ultimate Collection: Abyssea Edition).

Of course, if you don't want to start over, there's no real reason why you have to. Using your already existing character, you basically don't have to worry about getting crap done that you've done already. Furthermore, you character's already on Valefor due to Kujata's merge there, and Yyg is always eager to add recruits to his squadron.

Thanks. Well, is it still possible to pug xp level in the old areas? Like Mhaura/Selbina, Crawler's Nest, Yuhtunga Jungle, e.t.c. I hear mention of Abyssea and people doing that, but I have no clue what it is, and if you can level the old way. Also, is it possible anymore to get in on Rank missions, or Zilart e.t.c. Virtually no one would do them back when I quit (part of why I did)

The focus for leveling EXP sub 70 has shifted a bit from the traditional zones. You don't often find a traditional 6-Man party. That said, duo/trio exp is good, using FoV or GoV, and with the advent of Grounds of Valor a few months ago, alliance EXP is actually fairly common. You'd be amazed at how much EXP you can gain in one alliance party simply doing GoV pages over and over again.

Missions are mostly soloable, though in our LS we always have a few people doing them. Most people seem to put off storyline missions like Zilart and CoP, etc. until they hit 90, but there's no reason why one couldn't team up to do it sooner. I know I started CoP rather early, but I waited until 90 for Zilart, as there wasn't as much of a reason to rush and do that particular storyline.

Interesting. I just watched a video of an alliance doing Abyssea. Would have never guessed you would exp with an Alliance. What do RDM's do these days? Are we still useful other than Refresh, and do you see any BST around anymore?

I too just recently came back from a 4 year stint (though my character of old was no where near that of yours), and I have to say that leveling (from my own experience) is great, provided you don't fart around. I recently just discovered GoV, and if you have a great alliance, you will build up exp fast.

Also, I see various classes used. I couldn't tell you the ratio of one over another, but there are people out there using their classes. Personally, I'd say it's better (and somwhat) easier now than 4 years ago.

>.< Well I can still run around in RDM AF :D Yea I'm more than likely going to have to waste a week playing around with it all. My whm is only 20, BLM 40, BLU 25 NIn 25 so I guess I'm going to need all that leveled up if I plan on playing BLU anytime soon.
