i have been gone for awhile 4 years to be exact lol and i finaly decided to return to ffxi. i cant remember my account info or even what server i was on so im going to have to start from scratch. anyways i really want to get back into the game but i remember how group intensive it is and how much of a pain some of the early mission can be i was wondering if anyone could possibly give me some helpful advise? i need to know which servers are currently the most friendly to new or returning players starting from scratch. also i was wondering if there are any linkshells currently looking for some new blood. any help would be welcome thanks for your time.

There are many people on the forums who are very helpful, and I am sure you can get most (if not all) of your questions answered.

I've been asking some of the same things! one thing i've learned is to avoid the Odin server. apparently it is dying/dead.

You heard wrong. It's the opposite of dying/dead. It is actually over-populated. There are no servers that are dying or dead in FFXI.

Any server you pick I am sure will be friendly, there is no one better server then another, its the people you meet and choose to befriend that will help you on your return to Vana'diel. Ask around and find a Linkshell there are many different ones for different aspects of the game. I am on sylph and have been very happy here and have a wonderful social LS, and also a Dyna LS.
