Hi guys,
I'm returning to Vana'diel from a rift spanning many online games which eventually lead to boredom. I've always missed FFXI, however, I did play from launch for about a year when the economy run so badly into the dirt, Greenspan would've shut down the servers.
Elitism had befell the entire world and if not of right class with the right equipment, a team would much rather sit around for hours and eventually log off than give it a shot. I played an Elvaan Samurai/Thief (back when people thought it was crazy) but didn't have much trouble there.
Anyway, that was then and this is now. Finishing up the install now and can't wait to get back into this game. Couldn't recover my ID (been years) but I feel it's probably best to start over considering I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag and I'm about as daft as they come for being gone so long.
Wasn't too surprised to see a community still alive all this time seeing that an expansion is coming out soon but quite surprised to see one as helpful. I've been scouring the boards for information so I can put a sure foot down when I begin. If you would be so kind to indulge me, I have a few questions:
I want to play an Elvaan (RDM/[something interesting] specifically) again but is the climate not so nice for new players finding groups? If this is the case. Would an Elvaan make a good BST/WHM just to get some questing done and have fun? They have a pretty good MND attribute but suffer (and most subs do) from poor MP. Would I be making a mistake?
Any server as a preference? I can use the world transfer service to move to a popular server. Usually when a game has been around a while, some of their servers eventually fall off the radar... I would very much like to avoid this situation, if it is a valid concern.
Sorry if this is a terribly long first post but wanted to introduce myself on your forums and ask a few questions since I noticed the community here is quite helpful. Don't want to make that first step a bad one and regret it later.
Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated. Until then, I shall enjoy the wealth of information on your forums.
