Job / Making Money Question

hey everyone i recently returned/started ffxi and have a couple questions

the first one has to do with jobs. Right now i am a 24 WAR / 12 MNK. When i hit whatever level i am going to choose paladin. Does this mean i start back at level 1 paladin with no sub job? what happens to my main job when i choose paladin? is it basically a new character?

The second question i have has to do with making money. I need to upgrade gear for my character and just don't have the money to pay for it. Is there a "good" way to make money(other than crystal farming) because i am in need of some gil!

about the job
after finishing the PLD quest,yes u'll start PLD job from lvl 1 but with WAR sub and u'll not need to lvl ur sub untill u hit lvl 60 with (WAR30) so i recomend u to lvl WAR to 37 so u can lvl PLD all the way to 75 without any problem,about the gear PLD isnt a expensive job maybe some rings but thats all u can lvl it with like 4 gear sets in all ur lvling way

about making money well u can do it with BCNM,NM hunt or farming some other items
