  • Connection lost issues

Okay, I've been playing this game since the North American release, and ever since Wings of the Goddess came out, I've been being disconnected from every 15 minutes to every hour I play. I NEVER had this problem before hand. I used to leave my character online for weeks for my bazaars. But now I hardly have time for any Campaigns or anything. I have the same router, same internet provider, same everything since then, just a better processor, and a better video card I got when the game still ran fine. I was putting it off, thinking it was just my provider messing up, but at this point, I'm starting to get really frustrated. Solutions anyone?

    Some system information:

    Microsoft XP Professional: SP2
    Geforce 7300 GT
    AMD Sempron Processor 3000+, MMX, 3Dnow ~1.8GHz
    1gig RAM
Direct X 9.0(c) most recent version (i update it whenever available)

    Internet provider:

    Blue Ridge Digital cable

I doubt my system info matters at all with the problems at hand, but considering I play every MMO perfectly besides FFXI as of late, I figured it couldn't hurt.

    Re: Connection lost issues

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but can you please run that check to verify what .dats you have and fix the ones that are broken? I had an issue where I disconnected due to faulty dats that I replaced.

2nd, it also could be your router. Routers, like any other failware, often fails. It's true, if you think that they don't, then you must be living in a fantasy world and I want to be there with you. Try plugging your internet from the modem directly into your pc's ethernet port.

Also, what is the error that you get from POL?

A: My router isn't failing. That's a 100% guarantee. Seriously though, if my router was failing, other games would be doing this too. I did a test with Perfect World and DOMO and this didn't happen. And can you refrain from the insults please? I'm not being noobish, trying to troll, and generate a huge amount of flame or anything, I just don't have the time to figure this out on my own.

B: The dats are in order

      C: Error list:

      FFXI-4002
----------Time out reported by the Final Fantasy server

      POL-0512
--------- Communication terminated, or not available. Please check cables, routers, etc

I checked everything, everything's in order. Also, I run tests with this router constantly to make sure it runs fine.

Well sorry if you think that I meant to insult you with what I said, that's just how I come off.

The reason I asked you to remove your router from the setup is so we eliminate items that could possibly cause issues. Whether or not your router is not working or not is not necessarily the issue. At the same time we were verifying that you can play while connected directly via the modem and not the router. Sometimes it's the router, sometimes it's the modem. Sometimes it's your computer.

I've had that POL error 4002 before and I replaced my modem, then I replaced my router. Then the issue was resolved. The least costing option would be to replace your modem and/or having your signal checked. The costliest would be to replace your router (this is assuming that you rent your modem from your isp, otherwise replacing your modem is going to be costly).

Sorry, no insult taken, just thought it was implied that way. (That's how the FFXI community has been on my server, except they intend on being jerks, putting it lightly. Not sure how it is everywhere else.)

And yeah I did try that and it's still doing that. I'll try what you suggested, and get new stuff though. Thanks for the help, it's appreciated. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
