Pol-1040

I've searched the forums for this kinda problem to see whether or not it was happening to anyone else - No Posts.

Anyhow, I woke up this morning and stumbled into the living room and turned my PS2 on, tried to log in and I get this Error Message:

Error Code: POL-1040
No Response from DHCP server. Please try again later or check network settings, blah blah blah.

I know nothing is wrong with my connection becuase my brother was still logged inon another PS2 from last night. So I forget my PS2 and turn to his. I log him out and try to log in under my account, same message.

Then my friend tries to set up a buddy account on my comp, no dice.

My Question : Is this happening to anyone else or just me?

Just because there's nothign wrong with that ps2, dosn't mean there's not something wrong with your network adapter, try logging into your account on his ps2, and try having him log into his account, on your ps2.

This error is caused when you can't connect to the DHCP server (most likly the automatic settings arn't pulling an IP, or the network adapter is dead). Try re-running the startup CD for the network adapter.


Edit: How do you have this hooked up, either words, or if it's easier for you, a picture would be helpful. Are you running any routers? how is your ps2 hooked up to the network? (wifi adapter, direct line, cat 5, dialup?).
