  • PS2 Controller on PC

I recently bought an adapter so I could use my ps2 controller on my pc. I seem to be having trouble calibrating the analog sticks, expecially the right one. It never seems to center properly so it's always just a little off and gets rather annoying in-game. Now the camera movement is HORRIBLE.I can't seem to move it left or right. When i try up or down it goes in a diagonal direction. The opposite direction actually.

I just can't seem to get it to work, so I'm hoping someone who has experience with using ps2 controllers knows the solution.

Maybe it's just that controller? I know my PS2 controllers eventually get out of whack (although I've never had that particular problem). I use a Logitech PS2-like controller when I do use one at all, and I've never had any problems with the camera.

Best of luck sorting out your problem tho.

Well I have noticed a slight problem with one of the sticks, so I tried another controller. Still has problems. I'll look into getting a different controller, but I'd still prefer that as a last resort. Don't have much money to spend on these things.

      Thanks for the help

Unfortunately that file didn't seem to work on my computer. Why I don't know.

Like you suggested I searched for a driver for the adapter I have. Seems I bought a really low-end adapter and I can't even find a website. I should really do some more research when I am going to purchase something haha.

So I decided to suck it up and buy a logitech game controller. Hopefully this will show better results :/

          Re: PS2 Controller on PC

          Ok, I have your answer:

I have used a ps2 controller now for 3 yrs without an issue. So here is the secret!!

After plugging in your controller. Go to the controller config tool. Usually in the control panel (if using xp) and click on the Printer and other device option >> then click on the controller option. Once you have opened that console you need to configure/calibrate your controller. The option should be listed there once you have clicked on your controller.

After you have configured the controller in the XP system, then you need to go to the FFxi config utility. Once there, click on game pad configuration and then manually configure each stick. (ie one for movement , one for camera, and then the third (the analog d pad) (make sure that you have the hat switched turned on before attempting to configure.)

Once you have done all of that, make sure you test your controller in the same utiliy. then you will be all good.

Peace and I hope that works
