  • FFXI Config Tool

    Quickie:
Just got a new Vista bassed system and installed FFXI on it. POL runs and is currently updating FFXI. However, I'm slightly worried because the config tool doesn't work. Anyway this can be sorted? I checked the "FFXI + Vista = Stress" thread but i couldn't find a specific solution. Any ideas?

Tried turning off UAC? That fixes a lot of problems with running old apps on Vista, and makes Vista even more of a piece of crap at the same time.

It's because POL is running, while POL is running you can't access the config tool. I did the same thing yesterday

It still does it even if the program is closed. Gives me the message attached. Though, i think i will just wait for the program to update, just 6 more hours to go..

Have you followed the instructions about installing the Vista compatible PoL client? The config client does work just fine on Vista.

If you really cant get the ffxi config working, you could always make changes via registry edits.

I have had no problems, but I have found Vista to be quirky, so it does not surprise me that someone is having a problem.

Chances are if it doesn't work then his install may be corrupt and he might want to think about uninstalling everything and starting from scratch.

It updated and the game ran. The problem i have now is the graphics. the game runs fine, apart from it pauses for about a milisecond every 2 seconds, which is highly annoying. I don't think theres anything wrong with my graphics card because I can run higher end games on this computer just fine without that problem (Tomb Raider: Legend, Doom 3). Any ideas?
