FFXI on PC

Since my 360 is broken and I can't order a FFXI 2007 right now, I'm constantly trying to find a way to play it..

While doing another Search on my local (swedish, 2007 edition isn't here since the swedish players are so few..) game store's website, I found the old Vana diel collection, the one with just CoP and RoZ, 1 left

I do have all keys registered on my account, I just need a way to INSTALL the crap on my computer.

Will the old collection work? Will I be able to go to ToA areas and such?

nope, in fact I don't think it will even allow you to log on without having TAU installed on your account.

I would normally recommend a torrent, but god knows they all have keyloggers in them if they're MMO related. Your best bet is probably to try to find someone locally, and borrow their disks

provided you're not logged out in whitegate (or another toa area) you can play on an installed copy that does not include all the files for the areas you have registered (I've guested on a friend's ps2 before they had CoP and I did, etc) you just won't be able to enter the toa areas.

there's a few work arounds to force the game to patch in the toa files, but they're rather complicated and it would be easier to find a friend with discs you could borrow.

Well if I have a chance of gettin' "logged" then I wont try that. And I don't know any people thats playing this.. >.>

Well, still, I was hoping for an answer with something like "Yeah, you just download the ToA stuff in PlayOnline.."

I guess I'll wait until I can get my hands on all disks.

oh, I guess the wording I used was strange:

if your character is in a TOA area when you try to log into the game without the TOA files installed, the login attempt will fail (your client doesn't know how to show you the area your character is in)

if your character is in Jeuno or something, everything will work fine.

Yeah, he is in ronfaure, but I think its a waste of money to buy the old disks now and new just a week or two later.
