New to this game=)

Hey, installed the game, registered the expansion packs, made a character. but when i try logging in to the server, i get this: Error code FF XI - 3001, no response from the server. connection timed out. anyone know what to do?

And i can't find any final fantasy xi config for graphics changes:S
