  • Rise of Zilart Install Problem

    Hello All

    HDD Free 19.6GB/Capacity 55.8GB
    Pentium 4/2.40 ghz
    Ram 256
    Geforce4 MX
    Windows XP

Ok my problem is installing Rise of the Zilart expansion package for FFXI. When the install starts up it stops just as quickly with an
    -Internal Error 271.EX1_ALL-

then when I press ok I get another error message -

Error - 1603 Fatal Error during installation. Consult windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information

I have no idea what the problem is or where to begin. If you recall I had problems installing FFXI itself until I cleared my registry of POL files then installed again.

If I cant get Rise of the Zilart to install then I wont be able to get the advanced jobs...amongst other things. Please Help Me

This all happens every time I try to install from the dvd and when i copied the whole install folder to my harddrive.

Hmm, odd. Could be that you don't have enough RAM to play the game, but I don't see that causing a problem until you actually get into it.

That's a generic MSI message, and one of the most common reasons it pops is because there isn't enough disk space.

Since the RotZ install is exiting while computing space requirements, my best guess is that you need to clean out your disk and/or TEMP directory.

I really have no idea of what is causing it. You could try downloading the client in case your copy is somehow flawed. If nothing else works you'll probably have to format your hard drive.

I doubt it's a space issue since he says he has 19GB free.

thank you all for the added advice, I just got through chatting with a few of the support guys from playonline. the last guy I talked to told me to download installshield evaluation thing and try installing that way.

I will also locate my TEMP folder and delete the contents from there as well. maybe all this will help . I'll keep you posted

Re: Rise of Zilart Install Problem

                nope still nothing.....

deleted files in the TEMP folder and I downloaded installshield express edition but i dont think that is what I need. If I only knew what the first error message meant I'd have a clue on what to do. otherwise I"m just sh*t out of luck. I"ll still play the game but I'll be limited on where I can go. not to mention I wont be able to get the advanced jobs =(

Just though of a couple things you could try. Since this sounds like its hard drive disk space related.
Run disk error checking to check for bad sectors, Defragment and Run disk clean up. All these programs are all part of windows) .

Also since your using so little ram try using a utility like Start Up inspector for windows, and disable any useless crap that starts up with your computer and for the hell of it Bootvis (Google it). I just found out about it can help speed up your windows startup, its from Microsoft and was "intended" for OEM's to use.

Also worst case is reinstall windows.
