This is the one important procedure:

(1) Should I reinstall everything to Program Files. This time the difference being that I used regWorkshop to delete every single thing that has playonline in its name.

(2) or should I use another dir?

I hope it's working now but if you have trouble in the future, you may want to consider system restoring to an earlier point.

its actually not working at all

What I am doing now is I went to my mum's room and ripped my dad's 3Gig from the comp desk and his 17LCD mon... What I did this time was install EVERYTHING default. and it works :D... And is currently upgrading FFXI

Even though the natural consequence is that my dad will hand my butt to me in a silver platter, being the processive self he is.

If i can somehow copy his registry into mine then it'll all be fine

you may want to consider system restoring to an earlier point.

Lol. sorry. But, if you system restore to before you started installing, then install with the default settings, it should work. But uninstall everything (even POL) before using system restore so you don't have two copies of the same thing on the drive. System restore has saved my butt quite a few times.

Yes, haha, that's normal, they've had ALOT of patches,a nd i'm assuming you're on 56k?

Edit:

You've got to think, there have been 2-3 MAJOR patch releases sicne the release of CoP, and unless you bought the DVD, you've got about *looks up*

Wow, CoP's been out for a year already?! damn, ahah, You've got a year of files to catch up on.

Just did a sys restore... still doesn't work. Now i better reinstall the whole windows or find an excuse to use the other comp :/

scan your system for viruses and adware, there could be something screwing with your ability to run .dll files
For viruses I use norton antivirus
for adware I use lavasoft adaware

I don't have any antivirus software.
And I used zonealarm for Firewall. But I closed it when I was installing FFXI the 6th time :/
Anyways... I am upgrading the client on my father's comp now, with about 15 hours of waiting time T_T

Please get an AV software. There are free ones available, but I can't really recommend any.

isn't AV the cause of any DLL problems? So would it help?

My dads comp has no AV but he only uses SP1 while I am SP2. Thats probably the only notable different
