    ATI Radeon Xpress 200
    Intel Extreme Graphics 2
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900

ok I Googled Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 and found some articles that say it can run FFXI... and from Googling it looks like the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 is better than the IGMA900? so that means that ATI Radeon Xpress 200 can handle FFXI rite??

also someone told me that their Intel Extreme Graphics 2 works w/ half-Life, Guild Wars, and some other games... and Guild Wars has better graphics than FFXI so it's gona work for FFXI rite??

im gettin a laptop tomorrow and these are some of the graphics cards that r in the laptops that i'm gona be lookin at... so is this rite: ATI has the best performance out of those 3 for ffxi w/ Extreme Graphics 2 being the worst?

    Re: Laptop graphics cards...

It should run...at a low resolution.

Xpress has been out since 2002, so it's a dated GPU.

And the intels...heh...The extreme in the name represents " Extremely horrible "

      Re: Laptop graphics cards...

did some Googling for Xpress and found articles saying ATI came out w/ Xpress at 2004....
so I guess it's not that old and should work ok/decent?

        Re: Laptop graphics cards...

A user of the Inspiron 1200 here.

        Intel Celeron M 350 (1.3GHz/1MB)
        256MB PC2100 DDR
        40GB 4,200rpm Hard Drive
        24x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive
15" XGA LCD and Intel Extreme 2 Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory
        AC'97 Audio

FFXI runs just fine at 1024X768 resoultion. The only problems I noticed are during areas when you need a large draw distance in a small area, IE, a hallway in Ugglepah Temple. Also, when summerfest fireworks are going off, I notice a supreme performance drop. However, due to the nature on integrated graphics card being able to pull more performace actually from the system resources, I feel that this problem can be decreased significantly with simply more Ram. The fact that the graphics card alone can handle FFXI show's it's possibilities, so throw in a good foundation or 512 ram and you should be just fine ^^

And of course, if the other cards are better than the Intel Integrated 900, they should be able to run the game np as well.

          Re: Laptop graphics cards...

          hello,

i just bought a hp pavilion dv1000 se and i was reading and at first based on the video card prereq's i was apprehesive about cracking the seal on the game. so i did the benchmark and it passed with flying colors. i have to say the game is excellent and well beyond any expectations of other games i have played in the past.

my setup is as follows :
          computer : HP Pavilion dv1000
processer : intel Celeron M Processer 1.40 ghz 1mb cache
          ram : 2048mb of ram
video card :mobile intel(r) 915gm/gms,910gml express family chipset (128mb shared ram)
          hard drive :80gb 4200rpm
          media drive:cd/dvdrw dual layer,dual format,lightscriber drive 16x

          as for the settings
          overlay graphics resoultions:1260 x 768
          background resoultion 1024 x 1024
every thing else is on default and so far the 3 days i have played it i had 0 lag and no problems at all. so you dont need a navida or geforce card to play it .(at least with my experenice )
          ty for ur time,
          Pelegrin
