dude... thats pretty messd up have you tried to like reinstall it? In my opinion i think that something screwd up in the set up. Maby some files were lost or damaged. Try to uninstall and reinstall it if it doesnt work after that then idk what could be wrong.

Try installing it into a new directory, like "Final Fantasy" instead of FFXI.
        Race : Mithra
Main Job : Thief / Ranger
        Linkshell :
        Lunarians

It's not a problem with the installation directory, but to give you the most accurate answer, I still need to know your PC specs.

It seems to me that the problem is your Brother's graphics card. To find out if your gfx card is compatible with ffxi, go to: My Computer(Right Click) >Properties >Hardware >Device Manager >Display Adaptors

Theres a good chance you have an onboard graphics card on the new PC, and unfortunately, you're brother will not be able to enjoy FFXI until he gets a graphics card that is compatible. I suggest looking into buying a cheap nVidia graphics card.

When you get the new graphics card, be sure to update the card's drivers, and update DirectX.

I see, thanks for uploading that.

My hunch was correct, unfortunately, you cannot play FFXI with that graphics card. You're going to need a nVidia, or ATI graphics card with at least 32MB ram. You should be able to buy one of these for $40-$80 usd.

To completely verify, run the FFXI benchmark.
