Have japanes Account, NA viewer, how install Expansions?

I am in America, but I bought the game and content ID in Japan and there is a very good reason why I did this but its a long angry story, (bottom line is never buy anything from Fry's Electronics, witch you probably already knew).

...So now I am stuck playing on an NA FFXI(using PC or PS2) using Japanese ID without both expansions.

If you have a japanese account you know that you need the japanese Playonline veiwer to change your account( including canceling, adding characters, or expansions) ...

I do not have the JAPANESE PLAYONLINE VEIWER so I CANNOT do any of these things on the NA veiwer, all I can do is select my character and play the game.

I have got my PS2 moded specifically so it can play japanese games BUT the damn chip can't recognize my hard drive while its active, so I can't install FFXI on my PS2 harddrive.

So what do I have to do to get the expansions?(or cancel my account)

1.) Buy japanese FFXI PC game(does this work on non-japanese Operating System?) so I can modify my account on my computer and get the 2 japanese expansions.

2.) Next trip to japan go to Internet cafe cancel my account transfer items to other acount and start a new account from scratch on NA client.

3.) Next trip to japan buy both expansions and update my account in an Internet cafe.

4.) Buy japanese PS2( too expensive for me)

5.) or <insert your well thought out idea here>

what can/should I do? I can't find a thread on this or maybe its a super old topic.

If you know someone who speaks Japanese you could always get them to call Playonline Support over in Japan and have the account deactivated over the phone.

...that's all I could think of. :sweat: Quite a predicament you have there, if you're completely unable to use the Japanese POL Viewer.

But yes, you can import the Japanese version of FFXI For Windows. You'll pretty much just have to fix up some language/regional settings on your PC and you'll be able to access POL easily, many of us did that before the game was released in the US.

Lemme save you some time and money:

Download the JP POL, you won't need any of the actual FFXI game, I don't know where to get it but I'm sure someone here would know. Now buy Japanese expansions, because you need a Japanese Contents ID. Install JP POL and once you get your expansions update your Contents ID, there is a guide how to do that here on this website, and you're done with JP POL forever, or until the next expansion comes out. If you need any other help with configuring windows or where to buy them, just lemme know and I'd be glad to help.

Okay I am now looking for a JP POL as TheMidg sugested and as easy as it could be to download, I haven't found it anywhere so I posted a new thread asking if anyone knows where I can get a JP POL here:
