Small Glitch In-Game

When I play for about 10 minutes after restarting FFXI, I get this odd glitch on ONLY character models, NPC models, etc. When I go out of first and third person parts of my character disappear for a short amount of time, 1 - 2 seconds. It's kind of like the "random bars" effect on Power Point. Parts disapear and I can see right through him. Also does this type thing for light sources, mainly shadows and models though.

I've called tech support several times. They thought it was my display drivers or DirectX... it was not. They also thought it was my monitor refresh rate. It was not.

Please, if any of you know how to fix this annoyance, say it!

Are you using the windower? It looks like the same glitches that the windower induces...

I believe I've had a similar problem, where parts of character models would disappear and you could see right through them. Worst this ever happened to me was the only thing left that the game was rendering on my character was the head. Amusing, but not very practical. This would always be accompanied by some flashing effects and slowdown.

I'm 99% sure this was a side effect of my graphics card overheating. Right now I have to play with the side of my PC case off to help with airflow, and the problem *rarely* occurs anymore.

I don't have any flashy effects or slowdowns when this happens, really. Parts of my character just disappear for about 1 - 3 seconds.

I just got onto my computer and 5 minutes after getting in game it still continues to do it. So... can it really be overheating, just 5 minutes after I turn it on? This is a fairly new computer I guess... almost a year old. I don't see why it would have any problems in that regard.

EDIT: Windower as in... POL in windowed mode?

OMG i have the same problem. cept it dose it with my summons ... its SOOO FUCKING ANNOYING!!!!i cant even see my carb own cause of the damn lines goung though him ><... its EVIL. i got a geforce fx 5200 updated drivers and direct x. running a P4 with 512 ddr everything runs smooth on my pc. cept this damn glitch in ffxi ><

I've also got a geforce FX5200, shit card. I had this problem but I changed the resolution from 1024x1024 to 912x912(the next highest regedit can do) and it solved the problem, I think basically the card just cant handle it. It only gets 1400 scores on the benchmark3 on low!

Edit: It only happened when I use sneak attack, trick attack or saw summons on my screen. Other abilities did it as well, can't remember all that did, not all did, it was kinda random

how did you get 912x912 ? is that backround res? or the other one?.

Start>Run. Type regedit. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>PlayOnlineEU(US,JP w/e you got)>SqaureEnix>FinalFantasyXI. 0003 and 0004 are back buffer. double click them then change 400 to 399 to set BB to 921x921 and you should have fixed this problem.
