When FFXII comes out will this die

Well I seen it before but I was wonder I just recently bought the game after playing on a freinds account for about 1 hour and I realized there is another FF coming out soon. It seem to me any way that after most people play FF (any version) they don't look back and move on.. So I was wonder if it will die after the next one comes out I know it the first MMORPG in FF world. and maybe they sould have called it somthing else to take it out of the loop.. (my opinion) and continued on with the FFXII @ FFXI. So I would like your honest opinion and wonder if i'm wasting my time playing the current (version) game.

Don't get me wrong I love the game of it.. I'm addicted to MMORPG and I already pre-purchased WoW and I'll probably switch between both of them.

Unless... Of course what I'm talking about here happens. Then I just stick with WoW until that dies when blizzard brings out the next one...

Honestly, you play 1000 of hours nope you live in a MMORPG and you play a FFXII in a rough 100hrs. So a few will be absent for a while to play FFXII but then will continue to play FFXI

This isn't the Kujata VN boards. The people on this board are more or less comprised of the "mature" FFXI community. If you want to start a flame war, you'll have better luck with the VN, unless you start a topic about Drg VS Drk or some other dead-horse topic.

No, you missunderstand I told them they could flame me if they wanted but thanks for for explaination. The reason I said that is that I've been to boards where you were not allowed to FLAME anyone unless they actually asked for it. So I wasn't trying to get flamed I just figured I would get someone who would.

Anyway, like someone already said, FFXI is online (which means you play it with MANY other people in the world). Not to mention that SE is going to keep updating and adding expansion packs. (I mean, hasn't Everquest JUST recently come out with a whole new second game? HOW many expansion packs were they on, for the origional?)

FFXII is a console game. It looks bitchin', but I mean... one storyline. One game. No other human beings anywhere. So, it's a lot of fun. But it just doesn't have the same kind of longevity.

So, to answer your question... is FFXII going to outdate FFXI or make it obsolete? Answer: No. FFXI is a constantly changing, very dynamic, and extremely fun game. No single-storyline console game could cause it to go belly-up. Heck, I think a number of online games would have serious issues trying to compete with it.

And it's called Final Fantasy XI because... we love Final Fantasy! Sure, I don't see Squal or Sephiroth anywhere. But they're also not in the other games. They have the same summons, similar outfits, similar races (though where the h*ll they pulled the elves from is beyond me, other than your standard RPG race). They use names like "Ifrit" and "Cait Sith". They have summoners. They use a similar class/battle/leveling system. And, it's by the same creators.

Mostly because it has the same feeling to it. No two FF games are identical. And they're always expanding and getting more and more awesome So going online was a natural next step.

And I suppose they just wanted to keep with the linear game number line. Besides, "11" is a kind of 'special' number. I'm waiting for FF16. (not too keen on my roman numerals LOL)

Thanks for the info... I was just intrested because I didn't want to get to involved with the game if it would die. Also I was going to get into World of Warcraft but I wanted some experience with other mmorpg. But I like this more so far from what I've heard WOW is too cartoonie for me to be intrested in it but I'll probably try it but then turn it over to the lan center that will probably buy my copy

I totally agree with you by the name I thought the same..they should just call it "Final Fantasy: Online" or "Final Fantasy: Vana'diel Adventures" or something like that <.<

FFXI is an online game. People spend lots of time playing it, and it becomes a way of life. People do not quit MMORPG's for single player games, people quit MMORPG's for brand new MMORPG's. I've been playing Everquest 2 and its a much better game than FFXI. I might quit FFXI for Everquest 2... I haven't decided yet. But logging into FFXI has become a pain for me lately. People around level 70 are so super picky about joining a party, especially japanese players and english speaking mages. Most english speaking mages are sell-outs and would rather have a japanese party and leave all their english speaking melee jobs without mages to party with. That... and the racist JP element are things that will make me quit FFXI. I'm sick of trying to build party's and hearing "JP ONRY (>_<)!!!" and sick of seeing that stupid emote that looks like a constipated pokemon. I logged in yesterday for an hour or two and got fed up with it very quickly... and logged into EQ2.

FFXII is offline and it will be awesome and i think that some of the FFXI players will slow down there playing for a bit to play and complete FFXII but they will be back

I have played FFX enough to write my own strategy guide on it. I have lvl 90+ Blitzball players... I even got bored and got the cheat to play as Seymoure. I have got every Aeon and built them all up - been around the sphere grid more times than I would like to admit. I even spent over 50 hours getting all the weapons and items. YES ~ I have no life!

If FFXII is anything like FFX, I will be playing it over and over and over for the full effect.
