Re: Will SE implement <tnl> <exp> codes?

Well I LOVE the idea of having <tnl>. I'm personally sick of doing the math myself, especially at 3 AM when I'm so close to leveling but my brain hurts to think about it.

I do also love the idea of putting it in my search comment, that way if I'm soloing while LFG, it will change with me. Or if my party disbands after I've gotten a few thousand XP, I won't have to update my search comment.

    Definitely a great idea.

Not sure how easy it would be for them to implement non-static /seacoms like that though. It seems a bit too high-end for the capabilities of the current system.

TNL would be so awesome it's ridiculous.

Oh and ignore Feba, he's all POed cause whenever he posts an idea some people disagree with it like today, and then he throws a childish fit for no reason. Your idea is awesome Omni (b^_^)b

Actually, quite a few people agree with quite a few of my ideas.

I have no idea what in the world makes you think i'm pissed off about anything. Even if I were, I have moogles to beat and morons to harass before I take it out on some innocent poster.

Really though, don't try to start fights, I don't care about you enough to get angry about whatever you say.

Re: Will SE implement <tnl> <exp> codes?

I think if you use /seacom 1 @<tnl>, the <tnl> would be evaluated and put into your comment as a static string. Doing /seacom 1 <job> and changing jobs doesn't change your comment with it.

So if you were earning exp and wanted to keep it updated you would have to keep hitting the macro to update it. It'd still be easier than doing the calculation and editing yourself, though.

Allowing true variables to be included in the /seacom and updated anytime anyone LOOKS at your /seacom would be much harder from an implementation standpoint. The first way wouldn't behave any differently from the variables that exist now.

It's a neat idea, but if it is implemented, it probably won't be the magic auto-updating way but the "whatever your tnl is when you type the command/use the macro" way.

it already works, or so I've tried.

Try putting in <pos> into your /sea com, then walk around, walk somewhere else, do a search for yourself, it should auto-update. (should is key word)

Even if it doesn't work, atleast whenever you hit your macro for announcing that your looking for party, the @<tnl> will work, and allow you to see your exp to next level when someone is searching for you.

I took a step back and I'm basically not going to bother with fighting with Feba. We're all after the same thing. We want <tnl> and <exp> or whatever implemented.

                    <exp> should be current-exp/total-tnl... like 500/1000.

I'm more partial to that format anyway and would use it over <tnl>. It is easier to parse your party that way, without a parse.

                      Yep.

I was thinking about what SE could add a long the same lines, I thought something like <recast "Spell"> would be great for mages. How often do you have to waste time hitting a recast macro and THEN relay it back to your party? Personally, I know typing Stun{tab}@33 wastes a good 5-7 seconds, assuming I check it for errors. Being able to macro <recast "Stun"> and have it automatically parse to "{Stun}: 30 {Seconds}" would be a huge help, especially in BCNMs where people need to know what other people are doing. Really thinking how useful something like this could've been to help balance mages in ZM8...

HAY GUYS, THERE IS NO QUESTION IN THE POST, JUST THE TITLE!!! HE IS JUST TELLING SE WHAT TO DO!! OH GOD.

That means he broke the rule more so than I did, but his post is still here. Why is that? Maybe one needs to rethink that one?

SE should let you put "Recast" reminders on all abilities. Like add it as a default feature in the game, and let it be filtered. Every time an ability/spell timer goes to 0, you get "Provoke is ready to be used." in echo chat.

Macros don't seem to cut it if you use more than one of them quickly.

I'm not a mod and I don't by any means know all the rules here, but this seems like trolling/flamebait more than anything I've seen on this forum.

I don't know what "question" you were trying to ask that got moved to another section (apparently), but I'm guessing the responses received in the thread and the discretion of the moderators was used to determine whether or not your comments should stay in this section.

However, I don't think that spiteful comments need to be made in a separate thread that was, if I do say so myself, doing quite nicely with its suggestions until you decided to foul the air.

If you have an issue with one of your threads being locked, moved, or whatever else, take it up with a moderator, but don't air your dirty laundry in good threads that were otherwise not a problem. No one wants to hear it.

It's nothing personal, I like this thread too. I'm just posting satire about all these posts that go "This isn't a question" on several other threads. A mod moved my thread out recently and I can only think it is for that reason, despite my efforts to split the thread into both question/suggestion. This thread is pretty much a straight forward suggestion without much of a question. I'm just pointing out some hypocrisies, don't mind me.

Well, the stuff like <region>, , <recast> is a proposal, but i'd say that people have been asking for <tnl> long enough at it's a fair enough question to ask SE. It's not like proposing "Hey, what do you think of this neat armor thing I thought of" or "I come up with a way to add time mage!"

Where is the line drawn though? I agree asking for jobs and stuff is quite dumb, a lot of these threads that get these 'THIS ISN'T A QUESTION POST' are pretty obvious things to the poster and people they've discussed it with, just like <tnl>. If only one person is saying what is "useful" and what is "pointless", then it isn't a list of questions from the FFXI community, it is a list of questions(including suggestions) from FFXI Online Mod team/in-crowd.
