Would this job be good? Warrior/White Mage

For a tank, I'd say the best race is Galka, followed by Elvaan.

IF you want to be a tank why do you even care about attack?

PLD/WAR = Defence, HP's and the ability to heal yourself and taunt. You dont need to do more damage than others, as the tank its your job to keep aggro on yourself while the other people kill the enemy.

Anything that makes you last longer, defence, hp, healing ability makes you a better tank. A Paladin has all those.

DRK/WAR sounds to be for those who want some a tank that deals more dmg and not really just keep the group alive and unaggroed.

This may be kind of off the subject here but what would a DRK/THF be considered as? I know not a tank. But what? Can Paladins wear DRK armor?

I wouldn't say a DRK/THF would be a tank, it'd just be more of an attacking combination. Powerful, fast attacks.

Well I am a DRK/THF...
but, for me I think it's really good, also in a party it also would be useful just a little harder to get in one, Paladins can't wear DRK only armor there are armor for WAR/PLD/DRK

About the PLD/WAR Tank stuff... i was just thinking.

I still want to do good enough dmg, i dont want my only reason in the game is to get hit, i still wanna be able to solo alright and also deal out some dmg. So what would be best for a charecter like that? Galka or Elvann, and they say Elvanns make the best warriors..

before you guys go listing all the jobs you guys are gonna be levelling up, ask yourself just much time you're going to be spending on this game on a regular basis. Levelling up takes a long time, and unless you want your friends and family to start hating you, you're gonna have a hard to levelling even 4 jobs up to even 25. I'm not even going to mention 60... actually I will, some of the people in neogundan with level 60 and 30 sub have over a month of in-game playtime if i remember correctly (though I'm always so stunned when they tell me their time, i may lose track). Yep, count up how many hours that is. 240 hours on the clock to accomplish every possible deed in FFVII? That's only 10 days, there, sorry. Not even close.

Anyways, for staying on topic, the best soloing class I can think of is PLD/WAR. DRK shouldn't even think about tanking, they're defense is like a white mage. Their super high HP is to prevent them from getting one shotted should they hit too hard and draw too much attention to themselves. Damagewise, I can't speak for higher levels, but all I can say right now is that I do 3 times the damage of a paladin of the same level. Since the paladin only takes half the damage I do, I can imagine that the differences only get bigger.

Also, paladin doesn't even need to sub warrior at higher levels. They have something even better than taunt; it's called Cure III Luckily, you'll have been in a party for a few levels before picking ur subjob, or else many people would have been making big mistakes. Level 1-14 basically you're supposed to solo. By the time that's over with, you'll be soooo sick of it, and parties will blow your mind. Subjob comes at level 18, so there's plenty of time for you to rethink what you're gonna do. I must admit, warrior/whm make really good power levellers/escorts Newbies will love you. If you're escorting a lower level to jeuno, you can invis and sneak him, which pld's can't do, and if he dies you can raise him.

Well if i do decide to be a WAR/WHM, will they honestly be that usefull at high lvls? Because i wanna be really good to the Party, just not a crappy person who sits there and cant do anything but leach EXP off the party. And im thinking if i go with WRA/WHM that is what my charecter will turn into maybe after reading all these posts. I dont think he'll be that effictive at higher lvls, and I really want a good high lvled charecter. Because ill detecate a lot of effort and time to my charecter, but i want to get the thats right for me.

So for the long run (and helping the Party), would PAL/WAR be better then a WAR/WHM overall?

Oh yea also, if i did go with PAL/WAR, in your opinion what would you think is a better Race? Elvann or Galka?

i am going war/wht mage until I get to lvl 30. Then I am gonna change EVERYTHING.

I am a WHM and PT with DRK a lot. over all, DRK needs cure every 2 or 3 hits. PLD can stand up to 6-7 hits uncure. That's how different they are.

No WHM cares if he tanks wear different or same armors.
My job is to look at their HP bar and keep them alive. And that's my experienced DRK dies *fast* if i'm not careful
