What exactly is ancient black magic? From what I understand, it's the strongest and hardest to obtain black magic in the game, but how do you know which spells are ancient black magic without a list of some sort, how do you get them, and which spells are ancient black magic? The only ones I know of so far are Tornado and Flare.

I know Quake is in there also. So far I heard of only 2 ways of getting ancient magic... buying it at extremely high prices at the Auction House which saves you a lot of trouble, or endure a long hunt for it close to Shadow Lord's castle where certain strong monsters drop it... and even so the drop rate is extremely low. :sweat:
I'll go for the fight.

I think I will go the route of fighting the monsters. I will feel more of an accomplishment with my Black Mage that way.Member of the Impact and Arcadia Linkshells on Hades.Comment

I've heard that black mages rarely use ancient magic except when certain that the monster will die. Is this true or are they very useful to have or are mages better off using other spells? What kind of spells are black mages most often wanted to use then? Thanks

I curious why the spells are called "ancient" ... can anyone explain the story behind this?
amongst all spells, Tornade and Flood are the most common...
Tornade dropped from Yagudo, which people need to kill all the time when they hunt keys and raise 2. most common spell of all
Flood is the second common... dropped from Quadav people kill for coffer keys.
Freeze - drop from Haunt in ED. easy fight for 60PT but gotta beware of skelletons linking.
Burst - coffer in BD. THFs are the main resources for this spell.
Flare - Dread demons. tuyoi/tote to 65. a level 64+ PT can hunt it with 6 people now. really rare
Quake - number 1 rarest spell.... simply because no one hunting it. Dropped from Orcish Hexspinner. there's also Overlord and another HNM popping at the same spot.There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

I will buy freeze someday, also flare and quake...
rarely use ancient spell cus they monster (if it didnt die) would go to you and attack yaaaaa... and also cost a lot of mp...Comment
