No keyloggers/viruses/trogans and the only people with my account info or access to it are my husband and son. I had an online chat with a SE rep a few days ago and expressed concern for not being able to log onto my account. Of course, I got the standard "we can't access your account info because of maintenance" reply. Now I get this email, seems rather fishy.

If it is related to that massive database they found, it wasn't populated by someone thinking about it really hard and guessing the account info.

Was it sent to your email that you used when you first signed up, or to your POL mail account?

i haven't received this email but by the wording it does look legit so i wouldn't worry to much.

One of the registered emails I have on an account. I do have 7 accounts but this is the only one that received the email. I will be calling them tomorrow if I get a break.

Ok so I decided to be home by noon so I could attempt to get this straightened out. We also have a couple of other important issues going on at the moment so I really wasn't too thrilled about tying up the phone line while waiting for news. And yes I have call waiting but I hate telling a customer rep to hold on after sitting on hold for god knows how long and possibly getting disconnected. Granted the calls we are waiting for are much more important but the thought of sitting on hold AGAIN does not appeal to me.

Soooo....at 11:58 I put in a call to SE...busy. So I keep trying to reach them by using redial....FOR FOURTY MINUTES!! Well I finally get the automated service and get to the right hold line after listening to a ton of bs. Well here I sit...on hold...been on hold now for 35 minutes approx. /sigh This is going to be a long god damn day...

Well an hour and 40 minutes total in now to try and get my account straightened out. I'm nearing my record for sitting on hold so a new record will be set today! lol

WHEW! DONE! lol It's 2:28 so it took 2 and a half hours to get my account SEMI straightened out. They are now emailing me a password and I can then try and log on and hope to go it works.

Ok so while I'm waiting for my email to get my password so that I can attempt to log in and hopefully ease my worries about my account being tampered with......

The rep told me this, if your account is still active and you have not changed your password in a while, you will receive the email. So it doesn't automatically mean that you have a compromised account. In my case, I usually change my passwords once a month but I built a new computer, installed FFXI, then went to log in but could not find my booklet with my ID and password written in them. So I let my account linger over my usual time because I became busy with real life when I should have called them sooner and straightened this out. So yes, I paid them money NOT to play. lol

Also when you call, they will verify your account by asking you name, phone number, address, cc info, etc. If any of this is different, then your account has been compromised. The rep told me that everything was exactly the same on my account so I was not one of the unlucky ones....but I still need to log in and be sure! lol

There has been LOTS of identity/credit card theft lately. I had to get a new debit card a few weeks ago thanks to a random $260 Target charge that I never made...

Well...still waiting (1 1/2 hours) for the email that was supposed to take no more than an hour to reach me. /sigh I know they are getting a lot of inquiries but sending out an email isn't f**king brain surgery.

Well, had running to hospitals this evening but when I got back there was still no email from SE with my password. Gotta love that...

But I did remember it on my own while I was out and about, so I logged in and the account is fine. Annoys the hell out of me though because I'm sure I'm not the only one promised to get an email within the hour and still doesn't have it.

So no email yet. I was in game last night for a bit though but I just want to see how long it will take till they send it.....if they ever do. I am certainly not calling back after the 2 1/2 hour try yesterday!

Wow...just wow...TWO DAYS TWENTY THREE HOURS later I get the god damn email finally. Wtg SE with the fast response time. The rep said within the hour !!
