Bad example; I forgot how much gear the two shared. lol. Make it well geared BST vs. gimped RNG, I guess. (With Temperance Axe, though, I'm not sure if the SAM will get to WS more than a BST, and the BST will likely win on the DoT front with pet's contribution counted.)

No you don't, unless you have an outside source of Haste (spell) just for this party. And, for some monsters with AoE enfeebs (like Demons and their blind), the WHM's Esuna is just too good to pass up. I'd stick with:

Melee DD x3, DNC (or COR), BRD, WHM

It's a good balance, with plenty of curing and fire power, provided the melees are strong--stick the weaker DD players in the DD x4 party instead.

I've seen DNC operate in tank party; that fast cure from Waltz is nice, giving the WHM an extra few seconds for the Cure V. However, I think DNC can do more for a regular melee party, thanks to Haste Samba; three or four well geared melee DDs hitting and TP'ing faster is even more useful, IMO.

Yeah, some people just don't get that having a hybrid job that can instantly switch from pumping out OK damge to pumping out OK cures--even if "not as good as WHM"--in party is really nice when things go wrong.

third pld can do alot more in a crowd control situation and help blms take less deaths than idly sittin around twiddling his thumbs waitin for 1st and 2nd string to hit the ground.
Do Provoke and Flash do much to statues after a BLM lands a second nuke? May actually be more helpful to be /DRK and stun statues to give BLMs a few more seconds to run for their lives. lol.

Looking at Kaeko's enmity chart, I think that third PLD should be on /BLU or /RDM instead if in the crowd control team. PLD/RDM, for example, may use a routine like this:
    1. Right Sleepga lands, fire Cure 1 on each of the RDMs or BLMs who did the sleepga.
    2. Do a few HP cheat -> self cure to build CE, then rebuff Phalanx and Stoneskin.
    3. ~20 seconds before monster wakes up, start spamming bar-element spells for VE. (If only one or two criter left, can cast Sleep/Dispel/Bind/Blind on them instead.)
    4. Hit Sentinel when the monster wake up, if it's up; Flash/Dispel the most dangerous critters (to sleepers, such as melee types) as an insurance.

If a PLD has to drop a Cure IV on a RDM or BLM doing crowd control to keep him alive, the PLD already did something wrong or forgot to do something right. Well, that's my theory, anyway. Haven't seen a PLD handling this role effectively in practice, yet. (Watching them waste Provoke/Flash three seconds after Sleep/Sleepga is just sad... lol. )

I'm never quite sure what all they're bringing to the table, but I know that every time I've had one in a party everything went much smoother.

I had an INSANELY good DNC main heal my meritpo a few days ago, and he also dished out some nasty Pyhrric Kleos' as well.

I've been useful as DNC in a DD party for dyna... I seem to help sometimes. Some DD's you just can't save though. But... I have to say I felt most useful insta-healing the BLM party when I was put in it. They're fragile and I was not. They accumlate a lot of hate sleeping mobs that I strip away usually with on big cure bomb after the mob awakes and wants vengeance. I've never been in a party with multiple DNC... I think that would be pretty epic inside Dyna and out.

I have not been able to play Dnc in Dyna since I level'd Sam to 75... course now I have full DNC AFv2 but am not allowed to use it, lmao/cry. I think DNC is one of the most powerful jobs in the game. It tends to be under-rated cuz alot of DNC suck dog butt and many people just don't want to understand it.

    RUFFLES OF DOOM FTW !!!!!!!

Yeah, that's why i was thinking courie carrier, durability. Now here's a proposition infact i'll actual probably just start a new thread...

That rather depends on which zone you're doing, doesn't it? I mean, Bastok means Quadav, and there's little enough in the way of stray AoE there.

Generally I'd assume for the cheapness/availability of Fish Oil Broth versus other jugs, and the overall durability of CC. In a Dynamis-ish setting with lots of random AoE flying around you may prefer to have a pet that will last longer.

Wouldnt you have Lifedrinker Lars or Funguar Familiar(assuming 5/5 in BST Affinity) for your melee pet since they have better att/acc?

This. DNCs make my job easier anyway, especially in tank parties, but having a DNC in the Dyna alliance means I will never have to go through keeping a melee party up and functional. In my book that makes them them awesome . People really do underestimate DNCs and really, if the melee party is struggling it's not exactly hard for a healer in another party to toss a cure their way if their own party isn't being killed by something.

SMN and PUP aren't too bad to add to Mage parties at all really. PUP will have trouble timing nukes but what most people don't consider is that those little things have access to Tier 4 nukes and, if I remember correctly, have always had access to them.

As for BSTs in Dyna. I've honestly never seen a BST in Dyna so I would have no idea how they would perform. But hey if you get into a free slot in a low man you have no competition for Relic gear unless a sackholder or little brother of the shell holder wants it for a mannequin or something

A Dancer in full, Flamboyantly gay Etoile set, Straight tanking Antaeus, with dead body's all around them, shouting:

"FUCK YOU LAZY DOGS, HOLD THE LINE!!!!"

    Yeah...That's my Final Fantasy.

    *Looks around for Balfree*

yeah we had several discussions about dnc in our ls year or so ago. personally though i think dnc as a tank support job also works well.

all i remember though is we had one person with dnc in ls at the time that was 75.. dont think anyone else had had it above 37.. and i used to sit back and watch the loldnc all the time till finally after one qufim namis i took screen shots taken around the snoll area to place on the forums..

screen shots showed a full alliance wipe with the exception of one pt.. the dncs melee pt..

i think we got like 8 75 dncs now..

as far as the third pld goes.. ive been that several times.. but i dont stand around waiting and watching.. any extra plds we have in our shell go on mage support until a main drops.. vokin and flashing statues tossin a cure to a blm gettin a smack down from a stat or something that has just woken up.

third pld can do alot more in a crowd control situation and help blms take less deaths than idly sittin around twiddling his thumbs waitin for 1st and 2nd string to hit the ground.

and my point earlier about things being to class restrictive was really meant towards some certain aspects of the game like the newest expansion now granted i havent even done it yet but was informed through several people that a blm is pretty useless on most of the fights so i started lvling another job just so i could run through it easier or get pulled into pts for it easier.

maybe ill have it done in a year or so lol

Kinda off topic but so long as you're meleeing fulltime and not just sending the pet in you'll want to focus on your own TP stats and the pet's secondary where you can get both(I think there's options for stuff like that on mini-expansion pieces?).

Keeping things realistic(basically not assuming E.Body access), I'd say something along the lines of:

    stuff

And pretty much always using Marinara Pizza +1. For more evasive things like THF/NIN mobs you might want to exchange some haste for Acc, but for something around the level of standard merit mobs this would be solid.

    This

For real man, like even rep. the cor with a Whitemage, or Redmage. The bard can pianissmo them balad ever once in a while, and you still have a decent crowd control, who doesn't have to worry about refreshing people etc. Mean while the DNC might not be cracking of 1.2k Dancing Edges often, but I've got pyrich Kleos wich is like AoE accuracy for the entire alliance, not to mention haste samba for the DD's in party. I mean, here's my setup for DNC that I would be TPing in.

    Azoth | Joyeuse| --- | Black Tathlum
    Wal-turban | Peacock Charm | Suppa. | Brutal
Rapparee Harness | Dusk | Toreadors | Rajas
Cuch Mantle | Swift Belt | Etoile Tights (3%haste pants) | Dusk Ledelsens +1

And people are like, " Dnc Sucks ><"
