BBQ is right.... urgh did I just say that? The OP didn't want to give any information other than his own bias views whilst "comparing" WoW and FFXI.

Most of the beauty is in the way the world is designed, the level of detail, the uniqueness that each zone has, and how lively each area is. FFXI just seemed to be missing much of that.

From the beginning, I just felt that Azeroth was more immersible than Vana'diel. Both worlds are fascinating, but Warcraft has 10 years of backstory and history under its belt.

There's your problem: You clearly never even gave it a chance.

Whatever your opinions are of FFXI as a game, Vana'diel as a world is full of small details, more details, backstory, a couple more details, and is truly amazing once you learn to appreciate it. That you already know Warcraft's backstory does not make it better.

Your comments about jumping also point out a huge bias: Why the hell should we be able to jump? There are numerous areas that rely on one-way drops. Jumping in WoW has the most common usage of making yourself look like a twat. Your comments about multiple characters also show that you didn't give FFXI near enough time to judge -- between the job change system (which is infinitely superior to having one class per character) and level sync, neither staying with friends or trying new classes is a problem with one character. The only real purposes for a second character are trying out a new race, leveling another craft past 60, or extra storage space.

I really don't understand the obsession with jumping. Most WoW fans state it as a major feature other MMOs are lacking. All it does is make idiots jump everywhere they go. Hey look Mr Pld, you're wearing massive armour let's go jump over something and break a few bones when you fall. Yes you could make the argument about the new dance emotes and said pld being /dnc but at least his jumps whilst performing a samba would serve a purpose.

No one cares if you quit ffxi. It's a video game, and you don't need to explain to us your reasons. When most people quit, they say their goodbyes (indefinite goodbyes), and move on. Nothing makes you sound more ignorant than when you feel the need to justify your leaving with baseless, opinionated BS about why game X is far superior to game Y.

You can solo up to level 10, and maybe up to level 15, but past that all soloing activity stops cold turkey

It's hard to believe you even know what you're taking about after saying this, and makes you're post even more ridiculous. I've solo'd at least 5 jobs to 20+, soloing BLU for 40 levels so far.

ps. the mooninites are far superior than game x or y.

I've soloed about 43 levels of dancer, 35 levels of BLU, duoed 25 levels of SCH and became very solo capable at 68+, soloed RNG on worms for various levels and capable of soloing on it rather well at 63+. Finally, I've soloed 66 of 69 BST levels. I think I only actually dinged once in a PT on BST, but that's it. I've also soloed a bit on DRG back in my DRG days.

And when I say solo, I actually mean solo, not having some 75 WHM or RDM tagging along.

So OP didn't even try to learn this game or any aspect of it, he can go back to WoW... or DIAF. Either works.

Well, I think this thread isn't going anywhere so I'm closing it. The points been made, the OP prefers WoW and has went to play it.

FYI, I changed the thread title to reflect what its really about. One person's opinion is NOT fact.
