We reformatted the PCs, I thought I had said that, sorry not to. The friend did that when he checked the PCs with his software right after the first and before the second account stolen. He said if you play with your web browser open a keylogger can run but not stay on your pC. That is why he installed Fox fire with no script and some other plugins.
The last account was stolen but not the other two again. That account by the way had the lucky number where you won from the moogle game. The account was stolen before I could get the prize and taken back before the thief could get it because of game deadlines. The password was still the one FFXI gave me to get the account back as I thought it was safe. The last account stolen was stolen after all that. That is why I think a dishonest employee is the only one who could get ID and password.
You can not get much safer than foxfire plugins. They even have one that warns you of bad websites. And block programs from running within the website or plulling you to another site.
They arrest people every day for doing dishonest things within companies. I think they have a dishonest employee.

Why would they steal an account when they can create gil out of thin air?

mira, does your son login on the guest account of another computer? ie: he goes over a friends house, logs in under guest (prompting him to enter his acct info)

The fact that it wasn't found doesn't mean it wasn't there. I'm pretty sure there's no way for someone to just magically take over your account. The fact that you were hacked meant they got your POL ID and password somehow, and that means someway or another, malicious software got on your system. Knowing that, you should've reformatted.

My spelling is part of my problem after I had a tumor taken from my spinal column. The tumor had nerves wrapped around it, sorry that it offends you.
So now you can ask why not spell checker and what ever I don't think to answer. Spell checker does not catch everything i guess.

And the PCs were checked out by a friend who found no problems. The friend works on and sells PCs after he fixes them up to customer specks.

Some have already sent me their information I sent it to the lawyers who will contact them first email and then phone if it looks like they can be added to the lawsuit. I am sure these people will let you know if I have stolen their account by getting their information, duh. The attorneys does not even get their account info. They ask me questions about the game but never needed my account number, my bank number etc etc etc.

I still think it odd that no key logger was found. I think FFXI has employees that are doing it.

The account that was stolen the second time, I did not Did not even change the password from the one they gave me to get it back. No software I ran could find find any bad programs or key loggers. I did not run other software to play the game. And NO other games, bank or information was taken but the FFXI accounts.

Then you should also know that the only way to be 100% sure that you are safe is to reformat yours or your son's hard drive. Because you chose to go the easy route and not do that, you expect SE to make up for your/his shortcomings. They were good enough to do it once but a second time, I don't think so, thats your/his responsibility. And now because you/he screwed up and didn't protect yourself/himself correctly, you/he feel like pushing that responsibility onto someone else with a frivolous lawsuit (if there even is one).

Once this happens to you you may then understand. You put years into a game and watch it all disappear.
Others have lost real money for they spent money to get their items back. I refused to buy my stuff back using guild sellers. And FFXI could easily catch the people doing this if they really wanted to. They probably make money selling guild.
As for listing the attorney here they would just get spammed for you can see some reactions to this is not friendly.

I've played many MMO's in my time and I've had things "stolen" before, once even my entire account that I had been playing for 6 years. I do know what its like, but I also know when I'm at fault too. If I refuse to take the measure of reformatting my hard drive in order to assure there isn't a program on my hard drive that could cause me to lose my character again, then that is MY fault and not anyone elses.

As to your attorney's name, address, and phone number, thats why we have a PM system on this forum. People who are interested in getting in touch with your lawyer to join the lawsuit can PM you and get the information. Why should they trust YOU with their phone number if you don't trust them with your lawyers information?

Considering some of the scams of gil sellers, this could just be another one. Give them your phone number, they call to get your other information to give to the lawyer which could include your account information....and yes some people would give it up. (yes gil and not guild, for a system anaylist <yes its not spelled annalist, thats something else ENTIRELY> which would mean your an educated person your spelling reminds me of a gil seller)

One last thing how would you like loosing the name you used for years. They change one characters name and I could not get it back.

While I wouldn't be happy about it, I wouldn't whine about it either. To say that they should make the person that made a new character with that name change it isn't fair to that person either. You want to do to that person what the gil seller that stole your account did to you, thats pretty darn immature for a woman that is supposedly around 40 years old. Your friends list is still there and you can message all the people on it and let them know what happened and go on just fine.

Some may agree with you and some may not, thats life. A mature adult will take what others say and look at their opinions objectively because they could possibly learn something from them.

Wait if it was your sons char that was stolen. Then really your computer being a fortress wouldn't matter. Not to mention you may not visit sites or what not, but maybe he did and just doesn't want to fess up. Maybe he used the char on another pc that had a logger.

Thank you for your concern and for ANY NICE comments. My son is 26 and we stay in touch using games as I am at home and disabled. My son said 'let it go we can play another game.' I use to be a system annalist thus I do have programs to protect my pc. We did move on we play WARhammer, WOW, guildwars and he likes COH.
I did give all the information to a large law firm I was hoping they would make the gaming industry more user friendly. The law firm will be the only ones to get rich I think as they have seen ways to file several complaints which a few bucks per player can mount up. I was not suing to get rich, I was not raised to sue for fun and try to get something for nothing. I was upset with the way they treated me. I was put on hold for over five hours on the phone. Only to be told later they did not give me all my options.
You can have one character roll back and one data rollback.
One last thing how would you like loosing the name you used for years. They change one characters name and I could not get it back.

I.....
...played FFXI since US PC release
...have Avast and Spybot installed
...run scans every sunday morning
...I don't go to places that offer anything related to "cheating" on MMORPGS (good place to get a key logger on your system)
...never changed my POL password ONCE


and I still have my account fully intact

Firstly don't anyone send your phone number, you don't know the person, if indeed this is the case and a law suit is being made then details of the solicitor (sorry lawyer) should be published for the players to check with before and register anything with them direct not through the OP.

I agree 150%. Do NOT send this person your phone number. If there is actually a lawsuit in progress than this person should willingly provide the name, phone number, and address of the lawyer handling the case. If they refuse to do so, its a HUGE red flag.

A personal comment:

Instead if wasting your money on one, go out and buy a new game and forget about FFXI. It will be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Just Format and re-install your pc, the only safe way to be sure. Or let him put it on 360 or ps2/3 and that will solve ur problems.

I would check your computers, no doubt you got stuff on there that is still recording information from you on other things.
