  • I just got my face beat in by my NPC

I've heard a lot of people having trouble with Mijin Gakure. My NPC came rdm/nin so she had Chainspell instead. That wasn't too bad but then she decided to do two Blessed Radiance back to back. 481 through Stoneskin + 648 = dead taru.

You have to fight your NPC for them to get to 70? O_o

Just read the wiki. So I guess the smart thing to do would be to unlock this when they're 61? :-D

That's gotta be embarrassing to lose to someone who can't be over 65. I don't think I have the gumption for that kind of rejection.

      Yes.

And now I won. Melee was totally the way to go. My Blizzard IIIs did like 181.

Re: I just got my face beat in by my NPC

I got mine to around 30%, then she Mijin'd on me for 1018 o.O. I came SAM/DNC and frankly needed it. It seems the NPC appears NIN/??? for most melee types (She was /WHM for at least one fight for me, didn't see any SJ abilities in the other fight). SMNs are reporting the NPC as a BST with a crab pet. Mages seem to get RDM/???.

BTW, she knows all Ninjutsu as NIN including Jubaku: Ni. Brat. Where did she get that scroll .-.

1/2 on the fight. If you get the NIN, bring fire resistance gear or keep your HP up around 30%. She'll quit somewhere around 20%.

              Any mention on their level?

I realize that their race has nothing to do with their stats (apparently, our companions have A+ in everything, know every spell and have way too much MP proportional to their race), but what about fighting your NPC at 61 in comparison to 65?

Re: I just got my face beat in by my NPC

My NPC ate my two hour on SAM and hardly blinked. WSs were significantly less than they were on normal merit mobs (Gekko and Kasha with 10% overwhelm and Hagun did about 500 dmg each). 4 WSs into the fight and she was still at 60%. I don't know if fighting the NPC at 61 matters or not, but I suspect not. She was DEFINITELY not a normal PC level 65 when I fought her.

I ended up using Soboro 100% of the time and kinda whittling her down while keeping my HP up with /DNC to survive Mijin Gakure. It took about 4 minutes and worked OK. She still had me in the red when she gave up.

Maybe, just maybe Diaga II is listed as a spell RDMs can learn in the game's database, however, the scroll/ability to learn the spell in unaccessible to players.

                      That makes sense, right?

@YM: Probably. Same as Jubaku: Ni

I wasn't able to stick Sleep or Silence. Another rdm said his bind and gravity didn't work. Slow, Para, Poison all worked.

Re: I just got my face beat in by my NPC

I did my NPC break 65 Cap as 75BLM/RDM and my NPC is (normally a 65 Galka but has to be higher or has a high magic resistance) RDM/???

I went in thinking this is going to be like the Maat fight...Completely wrong.

                          The sequence went as follows:
I buff (stoneskin, blink, ice spikes,...etc.)
I started with Thundaga 3 (in case my NPC had blink or shadows up) 204 dmg
                          NPC casts Thunder3
I think well, it might of had stoneskin up...
                          NPC casts Stone 3
                          Then I started a rally Manafont (Thunder4(183), blink, Blizzard4(176), and Fire4(163))
NPC Rally (Blizzard3, Stoneskin, dispel, blazespikes)
Now I thinking "What kind of magic resistance does my NPC possess!!"
Then every time I cast blink, my NPC will cast dispel or diaga or diaga 2 or poisonaga.
Then my NPC cast a Stone3 which broke through my defense for 454(WTF!!!!)
Then I make a run for it.
I escape the BCNM with 231 HP.

Now reading this post, I am going go back in with my Gravedigger and see if I have better luck.
                          New plan: 75BLM/RDM
                          Buff
                          poisonaga
                          Macro (Choke, Burn, Shock)
                          Macro Recast Blink
                          Macro (Slow, Paralyze, shock spikes)
                          En- of the days element
switch from Kirin's Pole to Gravedigger(finally unlocked) +melee gear and run in to melee.

One important note: there is no XP loss for this if you die, so may as well go down swinging. The fight is no joke however as you can see, so bring a RR item or a friend.

True, but there is no reason to die when you know you are going to lose. I am at less than 1/2 hp (the 454 + poison + dia) and he is just a few hairs above 1/2 hp.

This makes me think my level 65 Galka has about 1600-1700 hp. I only used 5 damaging spells [Thundaga3(about 200) , Thunder 4(about 180), Blizzard 4 (about 180), Fire 4(about 160), and Drain(about 60)] and he was still above(closer to) 1/2 hp but below 3/4.

Anyone else can guess how much HP your NPC (BCNM) has? This will give me a good guess number I can shoot for.

Also, how much melee damage was your NPC taking per hit (please include your weapons damage, your NPC's job/subjob(if you remember), and your +strength). I wondering should I just suck it up and go 72 BLU/NIN and fight my NPC as a RDM/NIN or would my 75 BLM/RDM plan work.

                              /rant

I still blows my mind how strong my NPC is in the BCNM but how quickly he gets beat down by spells when I summon him. I got Thundaga 3 once while battling with my NPC and he was in the red after one. I hope the new items can change his job class/AI to as he is in the BCNM. I would have him be a RDM/NIN + player intelligence full time. In the BCNM he was countering my buffs with almost PC intelligence and when he is summoned, I dont know how many times he debuff a non-mage mob with silence...
