Blue Magic DoT

I am running a Lebros Cavern "Excavation Duty" tonight, either 50 or 60 capped, with a BLU/NIN in the group. I am unsure which Blue Magic spells will do non-poison DoT on the walls. I am hoping to get a list of them so he can most effectively contribute.

I know Cold Wave gives as Frost effect, but since we have a BLM covering that, I don't want him to use it.

What other BLU spells are DoT that can be used on Lebros Cavern walls?

Unfortunately, the only DoTs a BLU can throw that I've been able to determine is indeed Frost and Poison. However, BLU tosses out pretty much the strongest player-based Poison in the game, so I don't see why you don't want them to be the ones to put it on. The spell also does a respectable amount of damage initially as well.

A BLU's best form of contribution in Lebros is their sword damage and paced use of spells. Unless you have two BLMs, the BLM you have is better used to solo one of the walls by themselves while the rest of the group deals with the other walls. Therefore, you want your BLU to be DoTing anyways. Cold Wave and Disseverment are your best bets, as both have an 18/tick proc. Also BLU's sword damage isn't to be overlooked.

As long as your pal is set up for DoT instead of spike damage, he should be good. BLU is just as equally effective as any other DD in this mission.

EDIT: BTW, if you're doing 50 cap, he doesn't have access to either Cold Wave or Disseverment. 60 just gives him Cold Wave. Other than that, the only DoT spells a BLU has below 50 are Queasyshroom, Poison Breath, Feather Storm, and Venom Shell. Unless you don't have the levels, there's really no real reason to not do this uncapped.

Well, the reason I specified "non-poison" DoT in the OP is that the walls are immune to Poison effects (and Requiem). We do have two BLMs, and we are 60 cap tops (thanks to our RDM).

I think I am just going to have him smack the walls and swing swords and be happy with it. I am pretty sure at this point (having reviewed the spell list again) that BLU has no DoT outside of Poison and Frost.

According to the wiki, Cold Wave Frost is much stronger than the Frost spell -- about 18 damage/tick, whereas Frost itself can only deal up to 5 damage/tick. Assuming this is correct, cooperate with a BLM -- do Cold Wave and have them use Rasp and Drown. -- Pteryx

We do have two BLMs, and we are 60 cap tops (thanks to our RDM).

If the RDM is the only one holding you back from uncapped, then do it uncapped anyway.
