No you can not change your name. The closest thing you could come to doing it would be to pay $25 and change servers and hope the name is taken on that server because then they make you change your name. Then you could transfer back after the waiting period. If your name isn't taken on that server, before you transfer back have someone make a mule with the same name on your original server. Then when you transfer back you'll have to change your name because its taken. So all in all, it will cost you $50 and a lot of time.....definately not worth it.

    Hello everyone:
I know this has nothing to do with this thread but I was wondering if there's any way of changing my name in ffxi either during gameplay or just through the playonline services. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FFXIclopedia is a nice database, BGWiki tried to ape what they felt they lost from that. Guides are a speciality of neither. Our goal is still different as far as I know.

oh so you are trying to do something like a guide wiki, instead of a database wiki like FFXIwiki?

All that, without access rights for people--basically, taking the tools of wiki and ignore its ideal of "let everyone work on it to improve its quality."

The first generation of wiki attempt was doomed from the start by its ignorance of what makes wikis work and its shifting, ill defined goals. Let's hope the next generation of wiki leaders are a bit less blind.

The access for people was going to be opened to all people once the stickies were all reformatted, this was Pings idea.

The only FFXI Wiki that I even call a wiki is wiki.ffxiclopedia.org :D
More information than any other. Especially those wikis that call themselves wikis but arent really wikis. You know which one I'm talking about.

Actually the wiki here was an organized way to keep the information from our sticky threads clean and easy to look up outside the messy threads. Wiki is commonly used.

    Updated News:

Ping still has yet to fix permissions, and we have been greatly limited to what we can post/fix/edit/etc. Some of the threads have been started to be worked on other haven't.

    New Wiki Team Leader:

If anyone would like to apply for this position please PM Ping, with what you can bring to the table, the current team is up to you who you chose to keep and release the only ones who have actively put in work are, Lilithangel and BBQ, not calling the others out they have probably been busy. All the frame work and 90% of permission problems have been outlined and left in a thread to ping you will have access to.

    Reasons for leaving:

Basically as some know there was issues with Admins/Mods harassing some of our more dedicated and older posters, this is something that I will not stand for. I have plenty of other things I can do with my time then trying to fix what I can for the site while Admins/Mods decide to harass our users. My over all presence will be less on the site from now on (some of you can celebrate now), atleast until there is a formal apology issued to the user. To the majority of the moderators, keep up the good work.

If needed you can reach me via Limitbreakradio forums.

for those of you who don't know this is the reason murphie left the site.

Well the editing rights are off until everything is wikified but if you don't want any of your guides that you posted wiki'd then I'll make a post about in the Wiki Lounge. If you would like to send me a list of every sticky you have authored I will put it into the Forum for a hands off approach.
