  • Leveling troubles

From what i have read on the forums and from what i can see by playing it is true that after lvl 10 soloing is somewhat less than possible. However in my experience it gets pretty difficult at lvl.7 Im in south gustaberg lvling. if someone knows of a better place than that it would be great if you could tell. but any help at all is greatly appreciated.

You can reasonably solo to 15 these days if you do it right, some will say even 20. Make sure you use food and definitely get one of the Conquest XP rings (Empress band or Chariot Ring I think). I find it easiest to just pound the crap out of Easy Prey repeatedly, rather then suffer the downtime of taking on DC mobs.

You should be able to find a party at level 10 or so if you like, on most jobs, but there are two, BST and PUP, that you can solo the whole way to 75. Those are advanced jobs, though, and if you are just starting out, you will not have access to them yet.

      Re: Leveling troubles

Just FYI, but don't bother with Chariot Band, and go straight to Empress. The overall exp bonus is higher using Empress than Chariot. You can often safely ignore the bonus % and time limits, as those usually won't matter. The bottom line total bonus EXP is what you're looking at, and the Empress grants you more.

Depending on your job, I would suggest you start to pay attention to your gear and food usage (and if you're not using food, it would be a good idea to start). There are quite a few reasonably priced food and drink choices for the 1-20 range that are available from NPCs, and all of it is affordable to players starting out that take the time to be smart in their fund-gathering.

General rule of thumb: for melee, start out with a cheap, effective meat product, like meat jerky, and go from there. A good drink to go with it is some form of milk (either Selbina Milk or one of the au laits) for Regen. Mages will enjoy the pastry line for foods, and juices are ever the popular choice for Refresh. All very cheap, and most available from NPCs, and all of them will improve your performance to the point that 1-10 should just fly by, even taking in the fact that you're a new player whose combat/magic skills are fresh at 0 (relatively).

No, there is nowhere better than South Gustaberg for levels 7-10. (N. Gustaberg, the Sarutabarutas, and the Ronfaures are just as good, but for straight-up XP, they're all about the same.)

What exactly are you finding difficult? There's a lot of general advice we can all rattle off just like you'll find in all these posts. But the more specific you get, the better we can help.

If you're having problems with battle itself, getting close to dying, having lots of down time, etc., we can give more specific advice about your gear, strategies and whatnot.

If you're having problems finding good targets, we can tell you what to kill, and what to look out for, etc.

If you're breezing along without any real problems, and you're just noticing it takes longer... read the general advice already given, and then we can offer comfort and condolences. Because it does slow down. You're not going to be able to increase your XP/hour rate very much once you have your gear up to date and get into a good pattern with your target mobs (most people choose killing lots of Easy Prey over killing a few Decent Challenge/Even Match). But each level requires more XP, so it's just not going to go as quickly as it did the level before, or the level before that.

There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

If you are level 7, you should be able to kill bees just outside of of the Dangruf Wadi in S Gustaburg fine. You will get some nice xp and good drops until lv 10. At which time, you will want to flag up and go to the dunes once you get a PT...
