    Re: WOTG new Ex Weaponskills(pics)

Murph, I don't have Savage Blade yet, either. I'm sitting on 219 Sword skill, and I never seem to have the time for skill up parties.

    Someday.

It does look somewhat like they're addressing the lack of exclusive WS for certain jobs. PLD and RDM both had a different one, which is what makes me hope that. In terms of WS COR, PUP and BLU got nothing unique and I think with the number of jobs we have in the game now, there need to be several EX weaponskills added to suit the personality of the jobs.

Granted, COR got it really good on Quested WS and the recent update to WS turned out to make Detonator and Martial Gun worthwhile, but I was always kinda hoping for something flavored after COR.

If that is indeed a RDM WS (bara no ws) then I feel sorry for all the poor souls that will have to suffer my Shinku (and other Rozen Maiden related) macros.

            Re: WOTG new Ex Weaponskills(pics)

Unsupported speculation but: maybe these WS are exclusive to the 18 job-specific weapons, once they are unlocked in some way? I don't recognize any of the weapons being used in those screenshots and there's no current known use for those weapons... that would be Vorpal Sword, Brave Blade, Inferno Claws and Sturdy Axe for these specific WS, I believe. (Incidentally one of these 18 weapons is the BRD-only Dancing Dagger... probably due for renaming with WotG.)

New quested WS are another possibility, but that doesn't explain RDM and PLD having *different* new sword WS. Job-specific quests would be difficult to fit into WotG because some jobs didn't exist (or didn't exist in Quon and Mindartia) in the Crystal War era. The "last" DRG lived in King Ranperre's time, there were no SMNs other than Karaha-Baruha, the Aht Urhgan and Far East (Norg) jobs were unknown in the Middle Lands, etc.
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
            RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

Which is even more amuzing when you think about it, because if these jobs were "unknown" at the time, you have to wonder who were the individuals with those exact jobs were in the Hydra Corps (that event happened after these particular jobs were lost/unknown), and how the San d'Orian Army knew how to make the gear and make it enhance skills for jobs that "didn't exist".

Yes, I'm aware that's simply an oversight by SE for the sake of the enjoyment of Dynamis for the original 15 jobs, but still, from a storyline perspective, that's a bit of a plot hole.

EDIT: Just had this thought, but what if, by us going to the past via Atomos or his gates or w/e it is that happens in Wings, the jobs are introduced to the Hydra Corps (exclusively for their use, that is) by us through the storyline? That might explain why they have jobs, and corresponding Relic Armors and Weapons, during a time said jobs were supposed to be "lost", as well as a small discrepanciy I found with the Dragoon Relic helm (Spirit Link didn't exist at the time of the Hydra Corps expedition, so how is it on the helm? Gotta love retconning.). Only problem with this solution is that it creates another plot hole: we're also taking Blue Mage, Corsair, and Puppetmaster back with us. Why would we not teach the Hydra Corps those jobs as well, yet give them "lost" jobs like Dragoon, Summoner, Samurai, and Ninja? History says the Empire never sent a single Immortal to assist against the Shadow Lord's armies, however, I'm sure a large number of Blue Mages will be travelling back in time, looking for "new" Blue Magic. Interesting...

                I was wondering the same thing Lilith o.o;
Maybe they weren't all well known and easy to gain back in those days, but still were able to atain the jobs and using only rumor make armor to support them. Recall how some relic didn't fit well could be very well why. Also, with the limbus story about upgrading relic, maybe some of those jobs were very popular in Aht Urhgan along with the 3 native jobs. But one thing leaves me in a loop a little with our imfamous AF hands story line. Wouldn't they also be considered the same pre/post war or the armor of the people who couldn't make the cut to be a member of the Hydra Corps? It also leaves me wondering, would summoners back in those days be only capable of taming the elementals that roam of the lands? As for Norg, what role would it play? Being their relation to the Sahagin and Kazham's for Tonberry. o.O

ToAU Jobs wern't unknown. Thats just wrong.

The allied nations asked the empire for help several times during the war, Pre war they had an ok relationship and some trade, so they would have known about bluemages corsairs and puppetmasters. Some may have even been in the middle lands.

Lufaz studied in the middle lands then formed the corsairs, so the technology and knolage was in the middle lands for a time. And we have ex corsairs living in the middle lands now aswell.

OK, I can't speak much for PUP and BLU beyond what I know, but COR is pretty easy to write in since they have no loyalty to the empire. Over the course of the COR AF and Job storyline its pretty clear Qultada and his crew have ties and familiarity with the Middle Lands. Qultada was familar with the Bastore Pirates as its not a stretch that they'd be familiar with the Far Eastern ones, either.

The Corsairs fought against the Empire for two centuries, its quite possible the crew Qultada and his friends descended from took refuge in the Middle Lands for a time.

What little I know if PUP so far is based off Aphmau's story and some of that Ghastad talks about. Much of automation programming is attributed to Aphmau's mother and the sand'orian princes mentioned meeting the Emperor and Empress in their youth, so there's some potential to weave a larger backstory for the previous Empress.

BLU's theme is the pursuit for power, BLUs aren't strangers to straying from their paths or orders. Some might go so far to roam to other lands to gain more abilities. They don't have to go to the mainlands to take part in the great war.

                      Re: WOTG new Ex Weaponskills(pics)

Well I am 99% sure the ToAU jobs will get new things in this expansion, a good reason is because BLU is in the trailer lol. But it is true that BLU, COR and PUP would have been known on the mainlands, even a little. They all had some contact with AU because they requested help DURING the crystal war from AU, who refused. Just because the jobs wern't on the mainland, doesn't mean they didn't exist and even few may have traveled there. There just wern't many I assume. It'll be interesting to see how they tie those jobs in, and if AU is even a part of the new expansion. I know there won't be toau areas, but maybe a few NPC's will be in the CS's, since they were almost involved.

As for the WS's, I deffinatly think they're job specific. If that means a new relic weapon for each job, then that still counts as job specific to me. It's easy to see because both the PLD and RDM used a 1handed sword, but both used different WS's. So unless they are implamenting more then one new WS for each weapon, it's a given. RDM WS = rose, PLD WS = shiny white light. XD It's safe to say. As far as norg goes though, I'm fairly sure it was only saghin(sp) there are the time, they're very religious beastmen and tend to stay away from many other things. The only reason they faught in the war is because the shadowlord told them if the humans won, bastok would take over their home, so he tricked them into fighting with him. Something close to that.. Oh, that makes me think, I wonder if we'll see uggaelpih before altana turned her into a beast. c:

These images make me excited. The RDM was in full Relic, so perhaps these will be WS that will fall on the Lv.3 side of the chart and give us all options for Lv.3 skillchains in various situations.

I've also argued in a number of posts and with friends that I wish BLU had a Lv.225 Sword to do Darkness (Maybe not solo Darkness, but at least do Darkness), Give PUP a way to do Light sooner that doesn't require 3 people, etc; Most jobs/weapons have their own WS, that nobody else can use, but some don't. (BLU, RDM, PUP, COR, Great Sword) this would give everybody something special, new and fun to mess with.

You guys are RDMs. You don't need no stinking Skill Up parties. We SORO the WORLDZ! Sub WAR, get some DEF food, hit Steelshells. I used a number crunching Stoneskin tanking system that may not be for everybody, but I solo'd my Sword and Dagger skill from Lv.150 to Lv.250. The Tunnel to the Tree.

Now if only Savage Blade was more than just something that looks kinda kewl. lol
