NPC Won't Accept Trade. Please Help.

I don't know if this is for a quest for anything, but I came across a hume npc in South Sandy called Celyddon. (located in an alley at F-6)
I spoke to him, and he required a revival tree root. (which I bought from the AH)
I traded it to him, but for some reason, he wouldn't accept it from me and the trade wouldn't work.
I've looked around other FFXl sites and can't find anything related to him.
I have a feeling this could be a fame thing where I may need to wait until my next fame LvL but I'm not sure.
Has anyone else done this quest (or whatever it is) with Celyddon and would be able to tell me why I am having this small problem please?

The NPC for Squire's test quest is Balaseil. Celyddon doesn't give any quest.

From what I recall the one who required the Revival root was Balasiel, maybe you mixed both npc's, or maybe Celydon only mentions it as a way of giving you more info.

(Since old Balasiel likes tormenting everyone near him...)

Celydon is Balasiel's apprentice, I.E. the lunkhead he sent out to get the root in the first place. On the PLD quest, he tells you to talk to Celydon as he's on the same quest as you. Celydon is however, clueless, so the green text in his response just gives you an idea of what to pick up.

The NPC you want to talk to/trade that root to is Balasiel for the PLD quest. He's up above Celydon in the stairs pathways up to the walls. It'll take some running around and exploring to find the way up to him, basically just circle around that alley and you should find some pathways next to the grocery, etc.

You'll find a couple of NPCs like that, who provide more info for other quests, but don't actually do anything themselves. There's a Mithra guard in Windurst Woods who mentions going out and hunting Balloons in East Saruta, for instance. I'm convinced this is additional text to some sort of Windy quest involving bomb ash or bomb arms, but as I've done almost all of them, it's hardly a necessary step.

"Kitalrez" - you seem to know more about this than I do, so I think you're probably correct there.
I have read a bit on Balasiel and the Squire's Test quest (it was what I was linked to when I did a search at somepage.com for the revival root) on becoming a PLD and thought that Celyddon was included in there somewhere and got a bit confused which part he took in the quest.
I don't have any interest in my char becoming a PLD right now, but I'll know which quest to refer to when I do.
