Need A Little Help! Newbie!

I just bought this game today.. I am a big fan of final fantasy, and I thought that I would try this online one for the computer and is it ever different from the ps versions. I am just wandering around like a lost puppy I have no idea what to do, where to go, or anything. Is there something that you should do at the start of the game? what do I do 1st? a job? fight? buy? someone please help... thanks.

Get signet from gate guards and sell crystals that drop from monsters! Also, what server are you on?

The game is a bit hard to get used to. Eventually though you will catch on and it will be a blast!
