  • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

After the NPC prices for items that RMTs farm were cut everyone was wondering where they would go for cash.

Well the fishbots are back. It's damn near impossible to sell the stuff you get from ferry fishing like Nebs and Nobles and if you do manage to somehow sell a stack among the 50 stacks that are there well good luck getting more than 7k a stack.

About a month ago these were 10k a stack and nobody was undercutting at all. Now the AH is being flooded and so of course the more idiotic players are undercutting each other. To anyone udercutting and reading this: Stop undercutting on items that are guaranteed to sell if you just had some fucking patience.

So any suggestions as to how I can get rid of the 12 stacks of Nebs clogging up my DB? Fishkabob prices have crashed so I'm never making a profit off those until i can catch my own Bluetails and Shalls and using nebs for Black Ink just seems like a waste.

Oh and any suggestions as to what I can do while I wait for something profitable to do with my -12 DB space bearing in mind that my playing schedule is still Fri-Sat plus whatever days during the week I can get access to the game until May-June at the very least.

Yeah, it's not so much the undercutters that make me mad on FFXI.

It's the people who will take any crafted item that has become even slightly profitable (like 1k profit per synth), then will proceed to craft the living hell out of it, and undercut it so bad that it will be a 5k loss per synth by the time mine will get sold.

Also, a lot of the new people that are starting to play this game are just horrible. Not to mention a total lack of skill, nor caring for how their job/subjob combination is. But the attitudes of many of these people suck. I had somebody give me a "lecture" about how he doesn't like MNK, so he didn't want to level it for his WAR sub (He was WAR/PLD). He's spamming /sh for an invite in Valk, when finally I tell him to shut up and level a sub that isn't gimp to hell. He then says "Invite me, and see how gimp I am ^^" Instead of ignoring him, I proceeded to invite him and berate him about how EVERYTHING he did was wrong. (He was using sword and shield, would not voke mobs off the mages, BUT would voke the mobs off the PL we had. When he was tanking, it seemed like the only time he would use berserk. He'd go AFK in the middle of fights...etc.) So after he finally got pissed and left, he decided to say. "Whatever, I have a 43 Paladin, Good luck with me ever helping you on AF or G1, noob." (Look at my Sig, I've been playing since the day the game came out. I just happened to be leveling THF past 15 so my farming sub wouldn't be so gimp.)

Also, another thing is people leveling BST in parties. Yes, Level Sync is great. But I hate how people level BST and think "OMG, I'm gonna get SOOO rich when I'm 75"

Fact: You make money and get rich as BST by SOLO (lots and lots of seals)

Not to mention, I see so many n00b BSTs trying to farm mobs, and they don't know anything about the mob/mob family (which is a necessity as BST). And end up dying.

My pet peeve was more of a personal experience with my ex-roommates/ex-friends.

Long story short we played for like 2 years together, over that time i had acquired (all by farming for weeks!) Emp hairpin, Leaping boots, All the RSE lvl30ish gear, The kote dropping in castle along with fuma - had a master's gi.... pretty much one of the more pimped out THF or NIN at my level for my server.

They decided one day that they were no longer my friends and I was forced to leave and find somewhere else to live rather quickly. When I finaly got all moved and got my Internet set up I log on to find that they had accessed my account while i was moving, taken ALL of my gear and sold it, and left my character completely naked.... Except for the few peices of AF gear that I had, probably just because it was rare/ex.

Now after like 4 years of not playing I decided to play again and I get to spend all my time farming and trying to re-equip my 57 THF and 55 NIN... 3 weeks in and I'm only about 1/2 way to gearing my NIN for actual play, then I get to farm for all the tools. I haven't even thought about buying anything for my THF job yet.

        So yeah, I got screwed

You see, revenge can be a bitch, what you need to do is fuck them over harder than they fucked you. I suggest getting a nice baseball bat and smashing some windshields.

I had a friend like that, we pretty much lived together, but he decided he didn't want to be friends with me when I couldn't go to college with him (couldn't afford the 80,000 dollar tuition, so I joined the Marine Corps.) So he stole 2 of my favorite 360 games (CoD4, and Halo 3), along with a controller of mine (Ltd. edition Halo 3 Spartan controller.) Anyways, he refused to give them back, so I called the cops (months after we had the fight/stopped talking) and anonymously tipped them about a fairly large bag of *something* he kept in a safe in his house. He's not going to college anymore, cause his funding was taken away, and he's got a lot of community service hours to think about who he pissed off that bad.

I didn't do this because I was pissed about the video games. I was more pissed that he actually blamed me, and got mad that I couldn't afford it.

Not so much of fishbots, as it is everyone else fishing them because it was decent gil. Just keep them cycling in the delivery box until the prices go high enough for you. Or you could just sell them for the 7k. It's not like you had to spend actual gil per neb.

My current peeve is lack of communication from leadership. I've been around a long ass time in this game and I've been in my share of ls's. I've seen some go out gracefully and I've seen more go out messy. When they go out messy, you can guarantee that there is a huge lack of communication to the membership near the end. It's just endless hours of logging in, asking whoever is on if they know anything, doing whatever you want in game because there won't be events again, and then logging out. Eventually after a few weeks of this, someone in a position to make a decision will log on, say "Sorry but....", and BOINK your pearl will be no good. Oh hey assholes, thanks for letting me waste these few weeks of my life when all you had to do was SAY SOMETHING. Honestly.....

This is actually somewhat positive(WHAT THE FUCK AMIRITE??):

After 3 hours of lfg today I finally get a merit invite, but per usual the party was a bit of a joke. 74 NIN, 72 THF, SAM/DNC, a 75- BLU sporting Sapara of Trials, and a RDM who didn't have MJSP(the THF only had Azouph SP to boot).

After bashing my head into the wall the requisite number of times, I prepared to //exit and go play on my RNG character like I usually do, however I instead just decided to be honest and tell the party leader as nicely as possible that I seriously was not looking to spend my time and Shihei on a party that makes less than I do campaigning as PLD. He surprisingly didn't seem offended by it and was cordial about me declining the party.

So while terrible, terrible, ridiculously retardedly bad party setups still plague almost all of my merit invites on a daily basis, at least for once I didn't have to fake d/c from one.

I read this entire thread backwards before signing up for an account here, then I started making a list. It got pretty large, so I'm not going to use all of them.

First of all, there is one in particular that SE actually fixed, and that's AFK corpses in campaign/besieged, and how casting Raise on them would both use up your MP and start the recast timer. I don't know how you long-timers lived with it for so long, but it was only two months for me. But I do think it's funny how there's always AFK corpses in the same places in besieged because they were AFK when it started. Why can't people just learn not to idle in Al Zahbi? (For maximum fun, set your HP outside the MH in Al Zahbi.)

                          * Zulkheim. Windurst almost never has this area on Fairy. The only week I saw this under Windurst control was about six months ago... before I understood how outpost teleports worked. No warp for me!

                          * People who run mobs through/by the mage heal areas during campaign, just as they go KO. Result: mob goes unclaimed, sees squishy mage sitting next to him, and squishes.

                          * Campaign mobs camping the flag NPC. Usually the problem is that they're spamming AoE on the fortifications by the flag. Sometimes they're camping the way out, like when Crawler's Nest is beastmen controlled. They stand at the outlet of that tunnel doing nothing except spamming Aquaveil and Blink and telling each other jokes they got in e-mail, and I have to take a sacrifice KO to get by them. Usually they warped in to that point, so they're there even if the battle just started and you just got tags. This is a variation on "bored campaign mobs", when herds of unclaimed mobs are randomly roaming into mage heal areas instead of banging on fortifications, but that's too lulzy to be a Pet Peeve.

                          * Nyzul shouts in Al Zahbi during besieged - GTFO to Whitegate until it's over. If we wanted to do Nyzul right now, we wouldn't be doing Besieged.

                          * JP Nyzul shouts that take up three lines because of macro limitations, but the first line is nothing but an apology for the shout. I would appreciate one less line over a spammed apology about spamming.

                          * The log window on PS2 - It's 8 lines long just like everybody else, but it's also only 8 words wide. Many messages take up two or more lines, which makes it real fun as WHM watching for status effects. Make it full screen? I can't use macros in that mode, and have to type spells in to the command line. And trying to go back and forth into full-screen log mode is dangerous because of...

                          * When I'm trying to make the log window full-screen and end up cancelling Reraise or some other buff. If I don't notice that little triangle is already in the log window, hitting +/ENTER does a buff cancel. Thank you SE for making it so easy to cancel Reraise on a moment's notice. Once this happened while I was helping a LS mate do G3 in Davoi. (I did my fourth G3 when I was level 60, out of five times so far. I am the G3 whore of my LS.)

                          * Jugner Forest (S) - it's just cruel how you have to detour through Vunkerl Inlet to get to Sandy_S the first time. (Though I've since realized that you can probably enter the zone once, then use the battlefield warp to avoid Vunkerl.)

                          * The telepoints in WotG - They're out in the middle of nowhere, when there are already NPC teleports to the places most people care about - the battlefields. Only rarely is there a shout for Recall spells in Lower Jeuno or Whitegate, just a couple of {Recall-Jugner} when La Vaule was opened and everyone wanted the mantle or the belt. They end up just being a poor-man's {Recall}: {Recall-Jugner}, put on invis, head NW, and hug the wall, pass the two orcs and three gnoles, and you're safe to the C.A.

Now that I have lots of notes I'll use a chocobo, and I only recently realized that they are a good way to get to the regular beastmen strongholds, via the maws. Except unless you go solo, probably nobody else is going to have the crystals, because they're so damned useless and tedious to get. Maybe the next time I go with someone to Castle Oz, I'll take them to Mea, let them get on a chocobo, then get a black choco from Meriph and go through the maw.

                          * Campaign map lag - you see the battle icon on the map, you /search to check that there are people in the zone, you pay your notes to warp there, then you find the battle is over and everybody is leaving. Apparently it used to update more often but was buggy with all the stats it had to show. All I want is for the sword icons to update more often.

                          * People who only look at the level restriction on gear. A newb in the linkshell badmouthed Cobra Tunica when I mentioned it, solely because it had a level 1 restriction. MP+8 for a level 1 item? That's awesome for a mage class even at level 20! (also for /WHM when soloing the first few levels of a job) That's also why it sells for the record high 5x gil/AN ratio. The lack of DEF isn't that important to a mage in a party... one time I forgot to change out of my Yukata in an XP party in the jungle, and nobody noticed. Or maybe they were just too happy to have a WHM to say anything.

                          * Leathercraft at level 4. One of my goals is to get as many of my crafts as possible to Journeyman level (48-60) before I pick one to take higher. I got good at finding easily/cheaply grindable stretch synths (8-10 levels from cap). But I tried raising Leathercraft from level 4 one day and got about 0.5 total. I eventually got over that hump, and I've seen at least one complaint about it somewhere, so I know it wasn't just me.

                          * The time that I got 12 stacks of grapes and started stretch synthing grape juice. Only after they were all done did I realize why I wasn't getting skillups. I hadn't done the level 40 guild test. One stupid freaking mithkabob, and all I had to do was trudge all the way across Windurst to buy it for 1K at the AH. I ended up with 21 Grape Juice from that, so I used them to help level my /BLM.

                          * There's no NPC to trade up AU currency to bigger coins. So I got stuck with all four coin types in my Mog Safe, and even though I had enough to make one gold coin for the mog locker expansion, the guy wouldn't take anything but gold. I went to Nashmau and broke them all down to bronze for paying Mog Locker and synth enhancement fees.

                          * And an old one but one that will probably never go away: Just because I'm not /anon doesn't mean I'm LFG. I shouldn't have to /anon to be left alone. As a WHM, being in a solo party left over from teleporting someone usually is enough, but once I did that as BLM and someone sent a blind /tell wanting to join my party! I think mentor status might throw some people off, and a /seacom gives you the right to {/seacom} {Please check it.}, but I once got one when farming as WHM58/THF15. Yeah, /THF15 in Saruta means I'm LFG. These days I try to remember my /seacom macro when I log in, and there are still morons who ignore even that.

                          * How fast pickaxes break. When I started doing Harvesting, a stack of sickles would last at least an hour, but pickaxes break constantly! (I haven't had a chance to use any since getting full field gear.) Why should I mind losing a 182 gil pickaxe for a chance at excavating a Little Worm? And it's not just me either, this is one I've seen others bitch about.

                          * Equipment change flickering: it's not just the targeting one person to heal them, it's also what it does when you are tabspamming in campaign or besieged. People running around as you're tabspamming can do annoying things to the cycle too, but you expect that. What's really fun is watching someone in campaign with a visibly moving HP bar, still flickering away at 10% health, while I'm trying to get a lock on to drop a "/ma 'cure v' <t>" macro on them.

                          * Pullers who run right back out for another mob when you're the WHM with your MP bar at 5%. Thanks, Leeroy. Or that guy in the LS who always jumps the gun on popping the ??? when you're helping him on a quest or NM, but again, that's just too lulzy to be a peeve.

                          * People who upgraade their gear and sell the old gear the moment they make level. Right before they do a BCNM run with the linkshell. Fortunately we had extra people to take his place when he (the ??? popper mentioned above) deleveled. Still more lulz than peeve.

                          * You can't walk up a six-inch cliff. See grumblings elsewhere in this thread about Qufim and Tahrongi. Ah yes, Tahrongi, where you are more likely to be able to walk out of the road where rock is showing than on what looks like a smooth slope. Also, stairs that are a pain for a Tarutaru to walk up (though it may not just be a taru thing) such as the ones before the BC in Palborough Mines.

                          * Some of the items wanted for Stock And Awe and Materiel Storm campaign ops. On Fairy, paralyze potions are not normally in stock on the AH, and they require 78 Alchemy to craft, so I had to abort that one. And Army Biscuits for Materiel Storm II (W) require TWO ingredients that have no demand (and thus are rarely found on the AH) and can only be harvested/logged from Aht Urhgan areas. It was rather exciting harvesting in an aggro area, but I reraised twice at level 59 thanks to the tigers near one harvest point. The 23 beeswax I made from the stack and a half of Pephredo hive chips made up for some of the xp loss. And the one where you have to give the Quartermaster a stack of crystals? Five times and it's only ever been Fire and Water crystals for me, the only ones I didn't already have stacks of in my mog house.

                          * Reraising at WHM59. That makes it just take that much longer to get RR2. I ate a total of SEVEN Reraises at 59 while doing various quests/unlockings.

                          * People who think that Level Sync means random people 10+ levels higher will be happy to answer their blind /tell for a party in Garbaige or Nest. As a 49WHM I had a blind /tell for a pt... from... a 37WHM in Lower Jeuno? (probably looking for a rep) A funny variant of this was another WHM in my LS was having a hard time leveling through the 60s because of taking so many lv 51-59 syncs, when you need RR2 but don't have it.

                          * Garlaige Citadel (S) - whose bright idea was it to put the C.A. on the other freaking map, a five minute walk away from the nearest Fortification point? It would still be a long walk even if you could go through the banishing gate. And to get to the other three points, you have to pass by the first one, where the Yagudo always have their class reunion. No wonder nobody fights there! Compare with Eldieme Necropolis, where the C.A. is right next to a fortification point that is rarely visited by beastmen forces. It always looks like a sow with a litter of piglets in any week when Eldieme_S is under beastmen control. Except when Conqueror Bakgodek decides to crash the party, then everybody is upstairs by the C.A. like they're on a beach where someone just saw a shark.

                          * People who fail at playing the market. Epically. And I'm not talking about undercutters here. The price of Red Grass Cloth on Fairy, already weakened after Level Sync, completely crashed because of ONE MORON. With the price of a stack at 120k, and the price of a single at 10k (previously 12k), someone buys a stack at 120k, sells it to himself for 10k (apparently having forgotten that you have to break it up first with manual inventory sort, and then being too stupid to use Stop Sale), then ends up selling NINE of them as singles for 6-8k. Now the price is 5k, so I finally gave up and sold off my last two cloths the other day.

I'm not sure if this would be Illegal Market Regulation, but I'm pretty sure that people have put things in the AH at a certain price lower than the regular price to buy with a mule at a higher price. I raised the prices of bloody bolt quivers back up to 40k once because some idiot sold at a stack for 30k when they were 40k and ended up crashing the ah, they dropped between 28-32k a stack. I bought some from one of my mules at 45k and that brought the prices back up between 38-40k which was good.

I'd love to do this with certain items, but if I were you Dura I wouldn't try that very often.

That's true, its very rare when I do it since the bolts sell pretty well on their own, and usually if I do it isn't for that much. I think that was the one rare time that I went wild with it.
