Try World of Warcraft. Just try.. it's worth it for the first time playing. That's what I liked about WoW most. The first time I played it till level 40.. the exploring.. one of best MMO times I had. And yet still back to FFXI I am which is my longest-lasting best MMO time

There are other MMOs, as well. But I understand your feeling about wanting to not know anything about the game again. As Ellipses said, it's not all that great the second or third time around.

I'm in between...it was nice in 2004 when people didn't know as much about the game, so noone complained about me being WAR/RDM using a Scythe in Qufim b/c noone knew any better(god that's embarrassing, I really did that) and I didn't stress over every detail of my gear because I was an obs/comp minmaxer...at the same time, going back through the lower levels as jobs with capped/merited skills and HQ gear and owning everything is fun. I really enjoy knowing alot about the game, especially in terms of game mechanics, it makes the game more enjoyable than me and keeps my brain a bit more active than simple button-mashing, and I don't think not knowing that would make the game more fun, it's just that nothing is more fun the 2nd time around.

And new peeve for me...party leaders who start party, but then have to ask members every little thing.

What jobs should I get? Where should we camp? What should we fight? What are they weak to? What skillchains can these weapons do?

If you don't know any of this shit, maybe you shouldn't be making parties...

Well, I specifically meant starting from scratch with an entirely new character on a new server. That's a bitch. But otherwise, leveling new jobs is no big thing.

Yes it certainly is. I did it twice. My cousin gave me their lvl 5 war account on a different server and I bought the Vana'diel Collection when it first came out and wasn't going to let those codes go to waste so I made yet another account on a different server. In the end, I got tired of paying $50+ to SE a month so I'm down to one account now. In the beginning its fun being on a server where no one knows you and you start over but since you've done it all before nothing has that "new" feel so its just not the same.

I honestly don't think I could even do it. There's a chance I may inherit the character of a friend who quit soon to use as a crafting mule, it's also a 75 RNG. I'd been wanting to level RNG on my char for awhile now after PLD is done, and my g/f was like well hey, there you go, you don't need to level RNG now...and then I cringed at the thought of a *gasp* unmerited character that didn't already have Sea and the many R/E pieces of RNG gear that I do, lol. I know I'm lame but I can't do it, I can barely handle leveling new jobs anymore, I'm like permanently stuck in endgame mode now.

Also totally random but how close you have to stand to the damn staging point doors to use the exit doors. You have to be nose touching the door before they will acknowledge you as being close enough.

K i'll admit a blm/whm can cure a /nin party.even though cure heals 30hp cure 2 heals 90.
But and correct me if I'm wrong still new to blm but i think it's a DD job I'm supposed to stand cast and help with ws ect. Y do ppl ask me to heal everytime I log in ><

Alright this is the 6th time it has happened in the last month so It is now a PP.

People who try and set up a melee burn style meripo for lower levels (lvl 26 SCH in kazham) Today I was invited as a rep to a group with 1 NIN/WAR, 2 DRG/WAR, 1 SAM/WAR a SCH/WHM (me) and a BRD. The party was cheese dick. I died 4 times because of keeping people alive, the NIN couldnt keep hate (which they seldom can at this level) there was no concept for hate control from the DD's. The BRD was unable to keep buffs up. Whiff fest on all fronts. MP issues even as a taru from me.

What happens at 75 should stay at 75.

Im kinda pissed right now. To many people at 75 leveling new jobs who forget how to party properly. FFXI needs moar noobs.

Quite honestly, if you don't have enough knowledge to at least call it RDM, you have no business critiquing others on their strategy.


That said, there are some situations where there is nowhere around to heal, and a BLM can cover that ground adequately. I had a couple parties myself where I was the only person who could cure; and I've had far too many to count where I split the healing duties with a support job such as BRD. Now, yes, if we're talking about a meat tank and a bunch of other melees, it's probably a bad idea; but with Utsu being as common and powerful as it is, it's perfectly possible for a BLM to cover the healing duties when no one else is around; and it's far better EXP than just sitting around. Before Cure 3 might be a bit early, but it's certainly possible.

Mageo, that has nothing to do with being setup as a meleeburn and everything to do with poor planning. It's really not the NIN's fault, they don't have much in the way of hate keeping ability at that level yet, and even if they did, it's Kazham. Someone else should've been tanking; DRG and SAM are perfectly capable at that level. Mandies are bitches on shadows. The BRD being unable to buff would just be because the BRD is shit. The whiffing would be the fact that you're 26 in Kazham-- people go to Kazham way too early. Wait a level or two.

Burn parties can be effective at lower levels; the problem isn't so much people not thinking about the type of party they're building so much as how they're applying it. If you had had someone other than the NIN tanking, and you had chosen a better leveling spot, I highly doubt there would've been significant problems.
