Hehe. Sometimes the PG rule is annoying; at one point the were wanting to keep people from saying WTF of OMFG but ultimately decided against it. Still, when you don't feel like dealing with immaturity like "zomg mithra are pussies... get it? Pussies!" you know exactly when you can log in to avoid that sort of behavior.

As much as I hate not being able to say "That's so gay" or "I'm not a raise whore" all in all it works out to a really nice balance.

Besides, there no rule against getting creative. There's a lot of running jokes like "TREMOR RAM!" (which translates literally to "fuck" and figuratively to "I hump your leg" - don't ask). As long as non-obvious euphamisms are used, you can still fit in the PG rule.

This isn't any sort of judgement, but I don't think I would like to be a part of an LS that has chat like that (the non-PG sort, I mean). It's not that I'm offended by words or anything, and it's not like I don't have fun, but I just don't enjoy that sort of humor I guess. Maybe once upon a time or something, but not so much these days.

My humor is very, very dry. Like, vodka martini with very little vermouth dry. Or something...

Anyway, you either get it or you don't, which is really the same for any humor, I guess.

I had a LS on my mithra that I threw away weeks ago for stupidness like that. The people in it at the beginning were cool, I wasn't the leader but I had stated since they were doing some sexual emotes and things, to keep it to a minimum and anything over that was offensive to me. Few weeks later they were comparing bad PTs to "sandpaper cond*ms" and that was the first and final straw. I dropped the pearl and went on my merry way. The LS leader didn't notice til a few days afterward, he asked why I wasn't on and I told him why. All he said to that was "I understand" and that was it.

I've dropped a few pearls (or guilds) over the years because I just knew I wasn't a good fit for their style of chat or humor or whatever.

The worst? EQ2 RP server. I swear to god, the filth these people would think up...

heh, I love the stupid auto-translate perversions - when performed among friends. Especially when their auto-translator breaks on them and starts spitting Japanese instead of English at them.

While I appreciate an LS being 'family friendly', it's not my cup of tea - so I'd probably leave but on good terms with people (without kicking up a stink or fuss, and I'd keep the pearl around to poke head in and out, but not be *social* in it). The current ship I run is a fairly mature LS, with only two members in their late teens - and the subject matter is usually clean from bad language, not always the stuff you'd want children participating in or even mulling over on their way to/from school.

Occasionally we've had people leave for the reasons people have mentioned above, and we noticed very quickly that they were absent. However - what can you say other than: "I understand that we're not suited to you"? It's always a sad day when people leave - but, when you've a shell of 20's and 30's somethings, you cater for the common denominator, which in this culture (english) and LS, is a bunch of black humourists - not always for the faint of heart.

I don't approve of nonstop swearing either, but - I do believe that adults should be able to work out for themselves what's right and wrong to say, and so far... with only a couple of minor exceptions... It's been a very successful run of things.

Kudos on the revenge though. Always good.

And {subtle blow} that's kiddie stuff - far more fun sending tells to people saying {Are you alone?} {Do you need any help?}. ^^ and knowing they'll be quite peturbed on the other side.
