Custom soundtrack for FFXI.

I'm sure there are some of you that don't much care for Final Fantasy XI's musical score. Naoshi Mizuta's style is a little too ambient for my taste, and I prefer things to be livened up a lot more. I started this project a long time ago and briefly mentioned it a handful of times in the past, but I've more or less completed things and have a full soundtrack replacing all the game's current music for zones and combat themes, including the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion. Cutscene and character creation themes are untouched, as they're so rarely heard that it was pointless to replace them.

The replacement soundtrack spans four zip files, one for the core game, and one for each of the three expansions. Each zip file comes with some readme instructions. You may want to make a backup of your old .bgw files if you for some reason dislike what I've put together. You'll find all the files here.

For those of you that download it, enjoy. It breathes new life into the game.

Wow, thank's a lot. These new music files are tons better than the original and really bring a more dynamic atmosphere to the game.

I just wish I could find a way to get music for zones with no music while never engaging as a mage.

its nice music, and I think I tried your pack before... a while back acauly :p and it was nice, but in an FF game nothing fits it better then music from the greatest composer of fine music.......

Nice work dude! PLEASE tell me you have the entire FFX sound track avalible? I've hooked my PS2 to my computer and tried to record it, but it sounds REALLY REALLY bad once i play the recorded version><

BTW, ignore the MP3 distortion. Creative Wavestudio sucks at encoding, and the music pack doesn't have that.

It's cool that you did this. But I prefer to just use the default music, or play my own stuff in iTunes in the background. Most game music kind of leaves me cold anyway.

Actually, there are many composers in the Square-Enix company. I wouldn't say the main director/composer of FFXI's soundtrack is the greatest composer of fine music though...

Anyways, I used to listen to the music a lot while playing. But after a year or so, I just turned all volume in-game down and put on CD's, or open up playlists in Winamp.

Let's just say i can bear this game a little bit longer now. Outstanding work with the music-- some dont fit the scenario, but 95% do. Keep up the good work pal.
