Re: the ffxi life time
The game has been around nearly 4 years. I started shortly after PS2 release in Japan and that was around June of 2002 if I'm remembering correctly.
As far as a sequel goes, they are working on a couple other MMORPG's at this time. One is FF based and the other is not. It remains to be seen if the FF one will be a sequel but it doesn't really look like it.Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. IT was o their japanese site, something earth it londa looked like chibi ffxi (you know ragnarok online 2 meets ffxi). IT was inessence a fmv, but I haven;t seen or heard anything on it since, this was about 1-2 years after ffxi first came out.

Re: the ffxi life time
It's not the most popular MMO in Japan, not by a long shot. Lineage currently holds that title with Ragnorok Online coming in a close second. You go to any internet cafe in Japan and there's a 99% chance that they have Lineage available. Hell, there's even an AM radio station which is exclusively about Lineage. Places that have FFXI are very limited.Originally posted by epicdeanit is still the most popular mmorpg there

Re: the ffxi life time
Well, to be all technical, the word is that it's "Square Enix's next-generation massively-multiplayer-online RPG" and not nessecarily a Final Fantasy title. That the producer of FFXI is working on it just means they're getting an experienced mind behind it. Though, I didn't do too much research on this Tech-demo they talk about from last year's E3... was that demo FF based?
I know this may sound increadibly fan-boyish (and I hope you don't think I am one), but I wouldn't be as interested in a MMORPG from Square-Enix that didn't cary the Final Fantasy title as I would in one with name attached.Resident Canuklehead

Re: the ffxi life time
the tech demo was just showing off what the PS3(or xbox?) could do from what I remember. They just remodelled stuff from FFXI and threw it there. I don't think its meant to be a new game or anything. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Re: the ffxi life time
So then there wouldn't really be any ties to the linked thread (and article) and Final Fantasy? I figured that the tech Demo was just referencing what the graphics in their next generation MMORPG would look like, not that it referenced specific content in the actual game.Originally posted by Jeithe tech demo was just showing off what the PS3(or xbox?) could do from what I remember. Am I right in assuming that and that there is no evidence of the new MMORPG being a Final Fantasy title?Resident Canuklehead
