question about weapon skills

ok i dont have ths game yet, but it is n the mail(yay!). im tryn 2 cram just about everything about this game into my head so i will kno how 2 play wen it gets here, and im clear on everythng but the weapons.

i understand that you can level up ur abaility to use weapons. what is the maximum level for this? does it vary from job to job? if you built up a weapn in one job, will it still be built up for the next?

Yes, weapon skills move from one job to another. But every level they cap at a certain point, that point is dependant on what skill level your job has in said-weapon. If you want to see what weapons cap @ what level for which job, this is a great resource.

ok...so if i get my skill level for a 2 handed sword to 40, and then switch to a job where the cap is set at 20, if i go back to the 40 job, i would regain those levels, correct?
