I have to admit that when I first started playing FFXI and went to the Dunes the first time with the fire weather effect, I actually wore sunglasses until I found out how to turn off effects. lol

i still use sunglasses in valkurm. damn those white sands!

Even with the effects off that place still blinds me XD

I remember back when I first started the game I thought it was actually supposed to slow you down in bad weather. I figured it's a lot harder to travel in dust storms and such irl so why wouldn't it be the same in the game. Does make for great RPing though, when bad weather comes you head for the nearest shelter until it goes away. Wasn't until I started doing Garrisons and such that I realized I could actually turn the weather off.

If you downgrade your nVidia drivers to the old 61.77 versions then all the bard songs, Firaga, Raging Fists etc will execute without any slowdown, but a lot of newer games will run at a snails pace.
