Well, I think you guys are missing the point they intended.

1) the battle is meant to be fun, something slightly challenging and NEW to do..

THANK YOU!! I was wondering if anyone was going to realize that you don't always need to be rewarded with something uber for doing something thats just supposed to be fun! It's called a challenge and its fun to do and then you have bragging rights too!

IMO this is a bit dissapointing. Sure, this is a new challenge and its fun, but gathering 18 people each tiem for a fight that has very low droprate if any, and to get a pole that is not that cool, i dont see people going crazy to do this fight at tall. SE better come up with something after this. After reading this, many of the people I was doing this with, decided not to go on. I am dissapointed myself.

18 people are only needed for the final fight, cause its super hard lol. 2 PTs can do the other 6 fights (My LS did Titan with 12 or so I hear, I was fixing my computer >.>) Sure the rewards suck, but its one of the more interesting fights they've created in the past few updates, and all the new BCs were created fresh for the updates. (Bahamuts new BC info and battle .dats are in the original games ROM folder, so are Diabolos's pact BC as are Tenzens, Prishe's and Winged boy's combat .dats)

Well, that is good to know. But still the challenge is there, i totally agree and I ma up for that, but you know how most people are... not many will want to those those fights for the heck of it.... I am truly hopeing that they will add something after that. I will still do them anyway!

I agree. When you think about it. It boils down to 2 people.

1. Summoners themselves who do things related to Summoner just because they enjoy the job/possibility of achievements/rewards.

2. Fame whores who want bragging rights that they accomplished a quest/obtained an item.

Other people won't give a damn if they dont care about fame/bragging rights. They will see the quest as a complete waste of time.

SE better come up with something after this. After reading this, many of the people I was doing this with, decided not to go on. I am dissapointed myself.

SE better come up with something? They did, my friend. And you didn't like it. You're in no place to come up with an ultimatum like this. FFXI is one of the most polished MMO's I've ever played (and even though I quit it a year ago, I realized this after playing the rest and I came back) and SE does more content updates than I've ever really seen before.

If you don't like what they're doing, just go try the rest of the MMO's and then you'll back a bit more appreciative perhaps. Stop being such a "Negative Nancy".

And these are the types of people you see running around Jeuno at lvl 70 who are still rank 1 and all they care about is wearing a Scorpion Harness +1 and whatever else uber shit they can find.

I played with this mindset the first time. Got to lvl 26 and burned out and quit. There is SO MUCH to experience in this game, it's great. Start looking for it, a little bit guys...

I can't tell if you're arguing with me or agreeing. That's exactly what I was talking about. You don't have to tell me to try and appreciate this game. I have like over 50 gigs of video footage I recorded from playing this game, CoP missions included. I do appreciate it, otherwise I wouldn't have recorded it.

I would appreciate if you LEARN the facts before jumping on a person. I have played EQ, EQOA, L2, WoW and FFXI, so YOU ARE IN NO place to tell me what I think. And you are NOBODY to judge my opinion. I am simply stating what I think, and I have all the RIGHT to express my points of view. If I DONT think this quest is worth it for me, and IF i think SE delivered short with this quest, ITS MY own opition and you SHOULD take it as it is. And THINK twice befor calling me, or anyone you hardly know a "negative Nancy" You have no facts or fundaments to back up your comment. And for your information, I quit this game after 5 months and came back, becuase this is indeed a pretty good game. But me being a summoner, thought that this quest would bring BIGGER stuff. Anywho thanks fory our reply!

It's just, SE is adding this content in.. and it's meant to be fun. Just do it and enjoy it, or don't do it and do something else. Either way, just have a good time is all it's about.

No, I'm in no place to tell you what to think. But just like you said, I AM in a place to make my opinion. And my opinion is just as I said. I think SE does a great job with keeping content in this game. (There is SO MUCH to do). You can take your opinion on not liking it and that's fine, but it's my opinion that you opinion on SE isn't well-founded.

I'm not looking for an argument here, man. That's the problem with message boards. I'm just looking for people to get more enjoyment out of the game. Sure there are things I don't like. I just did my AF1 quest and found out that, in my opinion, the AF1 hammer isn't even as good as the Holy Maul +1 I had been using since lvl 38. Do I think SE dropped the ball? Maybe slightly. But I'm having such a good time leveling SMN and doing Promyvions that who cares?

Just cheer up, have fun, enjoy all the things there are to offer here!

I have been a summoner for 1.5 years now. And most of us, summoners will agree that we have had to stand being backup healers. At least I am alaways hoping for new stuft for us. From an objeticve point of view, the summoner lacks alot of gear for us. Sure, we recently got the yingyang robe, but it does not fit the looks of a summoner, and compared to whm and blm, they have access to alot more items than we do. So, seing that LAME carbuncle staff, after having to get 18 people for a fight, just for the fun of it. im my opinion its not worth.

Its like when you go fight Kirin, you fight for the title and for the outstanding drops. This new avatar battle is a challenge indeed, but one that i am no longer intrested at the moment!

heh well my SMN is only 17.. I want to get him to 20 so I can solo the avatars but don't want to take him much further than 37 at the MOST so that I can enjoy it more when I have fenrir and diabolos (and I'm hoping Bahamut and others by then!), so I'm not in the best place to agree/disagree.

I guess my main point was at least SE is adding content. The staff can be used to show off that you did the battles, and that's worth SOMETHING. There seems to be quite a bit of SMN related equipment in this update (reading the item descriptions from POLUtils) so at least they're trying.

If you're already 75 and you're looking for something to do, why not? It could be fun.. and that's all that matters.

(p.s. I'd love to pick your brain on some SMN questions if you use AIM. I'm on all day under the name 'youaremylast')

Well.. i guess you have to be a summoner to understand. Most of the people in my LS where a tad dissapointed with the drops from these battles. We will do them perhaps like you say, for the challenge, but once done, if nothing else is addedd there will be no reason to go back.

Yes, I think there are, but nothing worth for summoner.... so far.

We will justhave to wait and see. For now. I will try to fight Diabolos and get some of his items!
