I think I just figured out how they generate the random name's on FFXI.

It's based off your handle.

My handle (not login ID) is liekomgzwtfbbq (same as my AIM), and the first random name I got was: lihekomguzwtfab

I know. My handle was Mistigris. For mithra I got Histigris and Mistigrits... things along that line. But my Galka got Dreadcelery. Wierd.

lol galka names dont have anything to do with anything. they just pair up an adjective/adverb and a noun =P

Elvaan names aren't based on anything at all. They're all pregenerated then handed out randomly. I've looked through them, and I see a lot of people using some. There was a group of gil sellers that all chose Elvaan, the same hair, the same color, and had the generated names as well. They were also all Dragoons, and all wore complete AF.
