      uh...its an auction house. Now where stuff got bought for a 0 more, i have returned the difference. But if someone puts something up on the AH for less than the history, then they are puttin git up for the price they feel it is worth. Dont feel bad, take it for what it is...wish i could get some stuff like this /sigh, but congrats and dont let it bother you, like i said probably what they thought it was worth.

They even go so far as note names of other crafters in their field that put up the same product, contact them, and tell them to not sell for under a certain price to keep that price inflated. Very common technique with big time crafters.

        This same technique can be used by people that monopolize a drop item, equip, etc. Buy up all of the ones for sale, repost at a higher price and wait for the $$ to come in. I'm quite sure this is part of the problem right now.
        TGM, isn't there a large NA crafting guild on your server called TheCraft? What is their stance on this and how are they going about helping to alleviate this mess? I can't believe crafters would go so far as to do this just to capitalize the situation and leave so many helpless players grounded in the dust. That's just inhumane ...

          Yes it is BS. Yes The Craft is a large crafting ls on our server. I do not associate with them so I really don't know anything about their dealings and if they follow this practice. But I do know several well known crafters and I was contacted about not lowering the prices, so I speak from personal experience. I post my items to make a profit, every crafter does. But I refuse to post my products at such ridiculously high prices.

            i always make a low bid when looking to purchase an item on ah. i know some people are cheap, and want to keep from paying ,full price to put items on ah. others just to lazy to click full price. then there are those severe undercutters. i have made several million by low bidding. thats including my hauby. as far as someone overbidding i have always returned gil. infact just other day someone paid 32k for a 3.5k item i didnt even contact them, i sent back 27k.

              Re: Bidding low on purpose and winning

              I always bid low just on the off chance someone has put something up cutprice. I do the same myself at times with things I craft too.

                Re: Bidding low on purpose and winning

                Auctioning is like a craft. If you don't take the time to do it, then someone who does is going to buy your items for cheap.

                  Re: Bidding low on purpose and winning

                  Based on the Forum rules for TheCraft i don't think they would support buying out all of a supply just to turn around and relist for much higher prices.

                      And thats why TheCraft rocks o.o DH

                      But in all honesty....its their risk...if you got lucky pat yourself on the back. If someone overbids though, and if they actually give a damn to track me down, i will give the excess back. Otherwise they probably dont care enough and which in turn makes me care a little less too.

                        No, I meant their stance on this issue, not if they actively participate in this kind of activity. What I mean is, if this is going on in Midgard, couldn't or shouldn't TheCraft step in? Basically, for a nominal fee, they will craft the item for players as long as the players provide the crystals and materials needed to make the item.

                        That, at least, will give recourse to players. It may not be much in savings, but every little bit helps. Even if a player ends up buying a swath of sheep leather, if he can farm the femur bone, bone chip and get an earth crystal and get that Bone Mask synthed, he could potentially save 50% off of the price on AH. This is what I mean by having guilds like TheCraft involved in helping with inflation and other problems.

                          Actually i am pretty sure they do that, i sometimes need things synthed and i go to them, and for a fee(i think 10K last time i asked) along with materials they will help you synth, i think some even wait til the best days to do it. Unfortunetly i dont think many people know about TheCraft ><;

                            i always start my bids low just in case, you always see that 1 guy that got a hauby +1 for 20k >.> (happened on my server within the last 4 weeks and i know the guy who sold it... >.>).

                            i am usually able to bid low on mid lvl skillup ingredients for crafting, and usually save a few K that way
