Yeah with WOW i had it for like a month we passed the SAME cds around to about 40 plus ppl with end our dorm and we all had to buy our own CD-KEY so same disk work for it , the point is u gotta buy the key but with FFXI u gotta have UR own CDS and UR own KEY kinda over protected and greedy for money if u ask me, but who am i to tell square how to run there game

Was my post really that bad? I thought it was a little comical, or at least that was how I viewed it. It probably would of been worse if I didn't joke about the stereotype of being a guy, you know to macho to read a flimsly manual I'm suppose to be all knowing so why read it

As for the CD key, yes SE has a HUGE quantity of security going with it. Part of the design is focused specifically to screw anyone that would try to make a profit from SE by selling their character and gil. Now if they put the design intended into practice more the setup would make sense. Someone trying to make a profit from the game their POL account and CD key is terminated, now they can't just use the same CDs and purchase a second CD KEY to make another account as easily.

They actually have to dish out money for a whole new set of CDs. Just simply to get a new set of CD KEYs that work, you trying to profit from SE and they screw you with something like that a couple of times and I'm pretty sure you won't want to try to profit from SE like they tell you not to again. Especially if they were a bit better focused at it.

Why ever cancel your POL account? I quit the game a bunch of times and came back with the "return home to vana'diel" thing, and quit again but came back within 3 months so I still kept my character. How do you even delete your POL account?

first off all. There is no reason to cancel your POL ID. Its a free service. Yes you can even log into pol after you cancel your POL ID and talk to people in game and use your FFXI email. This is a free service to everyone who buys the game.

If you cancel your POL ID then they have the right to remove it from the server after 90 days. Again, I have no idea who would cancel their POL ID when its a free service and the manual says clearly that you do not need to cancel anything but your content IDs to stop payments.

God, I havent had to deal with tards like this since I was modding the VN and people would rant for days about this.

Seriously, if anything its awesome that FFXI gives you a free email account and the ability to talk to your ingame friends whenever you want. You can just log in, see whos online then send messaged back and forth.

Needless to say, I cant get on the game, and if I cant get on the game in 3 months I'm not bothering to come back (sorry I am not digging an extra 100+ dollers out of my pocket to buy new cd keys, its not worth that much to me.

Sadily, I found out about the agreement when I read the manual, AFTER I had already started in. Had I red the entire manual and this bullcrap of a agreement I had to accept to play the game, I probley would never have joined. But I was already in and I might as well make the best of it.

I've had a wonderful time, but it still is omnious to think that if someone had their card canceled on them (like if they lost it) while on say a 3 month bisuness trip, it woudl be very hard to fix this before losing what, two years worth of work? I really do dissagree about SE disposing of CD Keys when POL accounts expire. Its rather cuthroat...

You can use the FFXI discs as many times as you want, I can take the original 4 discs I got with the PC version and install them into any compatible com I have. But you need to purchase new CD KEYS, just like with wow, to get a new account. You don't need to buy a whole new HDD system and game discs for the PS2, which I'm assuming is what Hyrist uses based on the price tag he named, all you have to do is get new a Serial Number. Buy the PC copy for 20 bucks and use those numbers.

Also, there is NO REASON to cancel your PoL account, it's free. It's the Content IDs you pay for, which can be canceled for as long as you want. Just don't delete your character and you can cancel/reactivate your content IDs as many times as you want for as long as you want.

I didn't finish reading yet, but i have to say. Who says you gotta have the CDs that go with the account. I bought a new copy cause I thought mine was gone, but I found out that my character was still on the account even after being inactive with an overdue fee for 10 months. So I dunno whats goin' on with you. I even use the new DVD that has all the expansions that I got for 30 bucks with my old account.

ya i had to leave the game for like half a year because my computer ... literslly blew up xD but anyways my charecters and my whole thing stay'd the same nothing got deleted ... and i think i canceled some stuff from it on anoither computer but after the 6 months all my stuff was still intact .... so i dunno ... got me thinking about what to delete now >.<

You pay for content IDs and Content IDs alone. Everything else is free so do not delete them.

A friend of mine lost his account, but that was because he had an overdue fee for 4 months and didn't pay it. Oddly I had an overdue fee for 10 months without paying it and was still able to come back.

That's odd, because I cancelled my content ID but left my account. Two months later I still saw SE billing me $12.95. I reinstalled POL, cancelled my account, and no more billing. /hmm

Doesn't matter much anyways. I play again. <.<

Then you didn't cancel your content IDs. My friend right now is having finacial problems, so he canceled his IDs and now doesn't get billed. When you make a second character you need to first buy a new content ID, which you will then be charged for monthly. Cancel that ID and the second character will still be there until you reactivate it.

You may have canceled your PoL account, which is something completely dfifferent. You don't pay anything to use the PoL viewer or services. This is the account that gets deleted after three months of being canceled.
