on my server the price of everything has gone up fire crystal were 3k are now 6k leeping boots were 300k now 1mil behive chips were 5k now 10k ect its not just rare items and not everyone is rich i mean a low lvling trying to buy lvl 1 armor for 5k is not right gilseller dont keep the price low if there are more they just keep raising prices knowing that people want the leeping boots so they will pay 1mil, people need beehive chips the skill so they will buy them people need fire crystal so they will pay 6k they dont follow the rules of the economy they dont care what happens as long as they make cash

If this were real inflation, then the price of all items in game would rise. But this is not the case. Rare NM items and such have risen in price at incredible speeds while items that most people farm haven't.

Fire crystals have been 4-5k a stack for as long as I've been playing
Bee chips were always 6-9k
Bone Chips were always 3-4k
Sheep leather and ram stuff have been the same prices now as they've always been
ect ect

The only things to dramatically rise are the prices of rare equips. Most of which are farmed and camped by Gil sellers. It's not that there is more money in the game then items people need, it's that people don't need to work for it and can get it instantly. Thus the higher priced items will sell faster, and the seller can then try to raise the price of the same item in an attempt to get more gil.

And as for the 'I don't have time to make gil' crap I keep hearing. If you have time to exp you have time to make money. Instead of throwing your LFG flag up that day, take up a craft, go farming or mining, do some quests and sell the rewards, hell even do a BCNM or ENM Garisson or Eco war or any other way that was provided for you to make gil IN GAME the right way. Farming is only one simple option to make money, and though the easiest there are many better things you can do to get it. And it will take is one missed day a week of EXPing, just one day a week devoted to making gil is not hard to do.

As for the 'finding money is the same as buy it' thing. Getting the drop on a rare NM and selling it's drop is not the same as buying gil. If you camp an NM, it's not gaurenteed you will get anything out of it. You have to compete with others to get the initial claim, and even if you do claim the mob, you might not even get the drop at all. Where as you buy it, all you have to do is point and click.

That's funny bnecause the more you stop and blame gilsellers the worse it's getting.

Last update: emperor gone, peakcock gone, archers gone. And every single one except peakcock have actually raised in price.

This goes to show the enconomy is OUR own fault. We stop farming them, and think they will always be the same price. Well guess what if no one makes ice cream it becomes the most expensive thing in the world, just because you had ice scream for 99c last week doesn't mean crap if they all stop making it cause it's too cheap.

So if I receive 20mil a month, I would spend it all because it brought rather then earned? it's still 20mil a month. If I blow it all on the 1st day, I don't have it for the next 29 days. You assume that "hard work and sweat will make it more then it's worth" It doesn't I don't poster my check on my wall. It's hard earned, but in the end money is money. I will cash it like always, and use it till I hit my budget.

But anyway enough of this, it's been debated regularly every 5 or so months, and everytime we apply actually apply social science to it, people will always say, "My poor sniper! it's keeps going up! Must be evil gilsellers."

Well the more SE "stops gillsellers" the more we're seeing it go up not down.

Everyone is going after the new "gold rush" now and it's peakcocks. Thus they ignore all the other stuff. It's doesn't take that much business sense to see that other prices will raise due to people stopping to supply them.

Buying gil in no way harms the economy, it's what you do with it. Over bidding is what kills the economy, and can not be blamed on the sellers, or all of the buyers. I know buyers who I don't look down at just because they buy gil. They spend it wisely and it lasts them a long time. I will refuse to over bid on items, I'd rather wait for them to lower in price again. From what I've seen on all servers when a gil buyer over bids, others see it as an opporunity to sell at that price and the market floods. A few dys or weeks after the items are flooded the prices are dropped due to under cutters. Once the stock empties somebody will over charge if they see they're the only one selling. Thus the cycle continues.

Gil Sellers do not harm the economy:
Truth be known...most Gil sellers get half of what you pay for gil. So 1 million gil to you is $10 to them. You start running the numbers and it's a lot of time for very little profit, especially considering you must take into account the expenses of life and owning numerous accounts.

Idiots harm the economy:
As FFXI holds a player based economy (the AH is used often and all prices are set by people), idiots that jack prices cause inflation. But they're not the only ones to blame. The morons that pay the jacked up prices are also to blame. By constantly moving the price up, and idiots paying for it...the item continues in an upward motion and thus inflation continues. I'm pretty sure Square-Enix did not intend a Scorpion Harness to cost 3M-9M gil (depending on server) but because the economy is player based, it does.

So remember proper AH edict:
If the price is resonable and the person jacked the price, don't buy it.
If you see the price of an item rising steadily, mark it to the most common sale price in the history, not the highest (within reason).
Be careful of "get-rich-quick" items. They usually do not last long enough to make farming them viable.

Yeah gilsellers i always thought were the scapegoat, an easy way to point a finger at someone and blame them. Gilbuying itself doesnt harm the economy since nothing is being duped, only duped items and things of the sort harms the economy directly. The only thing i can say about certain things like Archer rings prepatch, are a cause of gilsellers. Gilsellers might have been part of the inflation but to say they are the main cause and even some, the ONLY cause...is a little too much for me to believe.

Who do you think jacks up the prices, umm the gilsellers cuz they want to make more cash faster, and gilseller do BCNM so they can get the boots and hairpin etc its all just greed, yeah people jack the prices but the stuff only started getting up there since the mass of amount of people started selling and buying gil

Isnt it kinda pointless to say they do BCNMs? Even if they do succeed its a legit way and there is only so many seals you can farm, that and they dont monopolize it. The only item that my server i can see that falls under that category is Archer Rings and their Sniper cousins in relation to it. They cant jack up prices if they dont monopolize things, so boots and hairpin are definetly not one of them.

They do BCNMs on Middy. And I can see them putting items on AH for a high price then having another gilseller buy those items, then repeat until they fill history. Thus, increasing it's price. Hell, HNM LS's have done that trick.

It's not our fault that SE took emp, archer, peacock etc out of the game. We complained, because it IS their job to get rid of players that are playing to ruin everyone's game, and they are trying to do their job too. They don't play the game, so to them, they thought we wanted the mere acc+ from archer ring. Think a little, they nerfed utsusemi because they don't think NIN tank exist, they have been doing updates to ruin everything we have, because they don't see our game(same reason why DRG has no improvement, because they think DRG is working perfectly like they wanted).

I don't know how your server is, the people on my server still do astral rings like crazy, I had to wait an hour or so for my NPC BC, because there were a few parties doing astral ring BC, yes that was after the peacock rare/ex update. And no, I don't see anything being pumped so far, nothing much changed, I don't see the world will go spend their beastseals on eye BC, then "history repeats itself"(wha?), and prices go up more again, explain? And, since it's a BC drop, wouldn't you think the price would lower? Think for a little, BC isn't some special priviledge to the lv75 HNMLS with 1000 people in, you only need 6 at most for beastseal, and what's more, eye BC is BC40. Peacock charm was rare because its a rare drop from a rare pop NM that pop every 24-36 hours + random timer, and when the timer ends, if the leech king popped you have to wait another 24-36 hours for a chance of it to pop again. I doubt anyone who has the ability to do BC and would want a peacock charm(luxury *coughs*) have barely 40 beastseal, if that's the case, they are quite..mm.. active players Don't forget you won't have anyone dominating the camp, and it takes less time to form a working good party with your friends to get a few chances on peacock, than to camp a day pop NM that might be taken or, popped a wrong one.

Now for gil buyers, you don't seem to get my point.

Yes, picking up $10 and earning it has little difference, you still have that $10 at the end. I don't know about you, but for me, I spend the money I earned with more caution, because I earned it, however if I happen to pick up $10, I would just use it quickly, why? Because it would be "extra" money in my head.
Gil buyers work the same logic, they have the money, they have the power to get some more when needed, now not many would go for a peacock charm(yes that was an example), but if they have to buy a brigadine+1 for party, they would buy it, even if the price is pumped by 10% or more. Normal players would wait for it if possible. Think about how the server was before this gilselling bullcrap come, pumping items will end up in failure at a 50% chance, now? You have 90% chance in succeeding pumping prices.

Gil sellers are a minority on every sever, yet you blame your problems on them. It isn't just the gil sellers selling these items it's normal players as well. You can sure as hell bet they'll be piggy-backing on whatever attempt the gil sellers make to raise prices.

And who's forcing players to buy these items? Nobody. It's greed that makes players jack up prices, and it's irresponsibility that makes players pay insane prices for items. You have nobody to blame but your peers. Next time to see a 100k price hike between two transactions you know who to blame.

It's funny, I saw this thread as finally a step in the right direction when it was first posted. Someone actually blaming a legitimate player for buying gil instead of these faceless "gilsellers" that are so easy to scapegoat.

The effect gilsellers have on the economy is minimal. They provide the gil that is used to effect the economy, and that is where it stops. Used by who? The buyers. People who buy gil have no sense of what something is worth in a virtual economy. Peacock won't sell for 15mil? No problem. Just buy more gil and try for 20mil. When you're in a hurry to "be the best," and you can buy as much virtual currency as you want, money is no object. It's because of the people who are willing to pay real money to up the standard that the rest of us have to pay increased prices. Gilsellers have little to nothing to do with it.

A couple posters clearly have a head on their shoulders, but the rest are just spewing the same old ignorance. Can someone close this bullshit thread?
