Playing two characters

i was wondering how if possible, you could play with two of your characters at the same time on one account without getting one of the characters kicked off.

so if i went to eb games and baught another ff11 software then install it on my other computer i could play the same acount but both characters i haev at the same time

Have to be separate Accounts so that the IDs will be different. There was a couple who both play FFXI in my LS who split up their accounts so they could both be on at the same time. Have to pay double the monthly fee.

You shouldn't dual/multi box in FFXI, unless you're soloing.

Good point. Not really any point in paying the extra cash, unless you have pockets full of the stuff that is.

Usually we would call these extra characters Mules, and I've tried to work it out a few times myself how you could possibly use a second character on the same accaount to play around ingame with at the same time as your main character, but I guess that it just ISN'T possible without 2 seperate accounts.

You shouldn't dual/multi box in FFXI, unless you're soloing.

I've dualed in exp pts. Melee and a mage. It worked great. The biggest issue though is that ALL pt members must realize you are dualing. I had a couple pts where I told them specifically that I was doing so and sometimes people just don't read or comprehend. Missed renkei's, drks that die from stacking abilities during renkei and you can't heal them fast enough, etc. I usually do this when there is no mage available and the pt leader keeps looking until he finds one to replace my 2nd character.

To be effective at all, you have to have low investment jobs to make sure they work well even if you can't be giving them direct input. In other words, one can be a mage if the other is a DD. Even moving up to a tank makes it hard to play a mage character. And you can forget playing BRD or RDM.

"Dualing" is not fun...

Maybe not to you, but I rather enjoy it. It really helps in the lower lvls. I played rdm and war for quite a few lvls that way. It was a bit trickier in the 50's but it sure does keep you on your toes!

I bet if you played MNK and WAR (not as tank) together you could dual really easily.

a friend of mine does this... has his computer account and his ps2 account... he PL'd me and his other character one night... id have to say hes pretty talanted

I've dualed BRD and RNG at 74, and trust me... you don't wanna do it. I missed so much renkeis and was so slow on songs, even with a 2GB 3.2ghzPC running 2 FFXI's makes it pretty slow. :/

Just stack MNK with another easy job like DRG or WAR and you shouldn't have a problem in the world... CTRL+A on both chars...and you're set. Occasionally WS, Jump when you remember to on DRG, etc...pretty easy. But doing something like main healing your party, trying to Refresh your party, tanking, or otherwise...forget about it, the party is gonna hate you if you even try.
