  • NPC and there Jobs

    Hello Everyone

As most of us will know SE have added a new buddy system to FFXI. Now I have been told after having your NPC in use for somtime you can go to the Rende point and pick on a job
Healer, Tanker or Fighter. Now I was wondering if anyone knows how this works. One you have picked a job do you have to stay with it? Or can you change it straight away? or do you have to wait another amount of time before you can change it again??? Any answers to this would be very helpful.

    Thank you

As I tested, I can tell my NPC to switch to any style anytime. Don't think they will be fixed to anything.

After the third time you summon him, you go to the Rendezvous Point and he will be dressed in knew armor (mines in full Lizard gear w00t) and if you scroll down the list of option there will be a new one that says "Let talk about jobs" and then you can choose "Shield" "Healer" and "Attacker". Just say you choose attacker and your NPC lvls up next time you call him you can go back to the Rendevzous Point and change his job but his level will remain the same.
In the moonlight, your face it glows.. like a thousand diamonds, I suppose.
And your hair flows like.. The ocean breeze...
Not a million fights could make me hate you, you’re invincible.
      Yeah, It’s true.
It’s in your eyes, where I find peace.

It's my guess whatever job you're using at the time, or have been using, will have its own effects on the NPC's equipment. Let's say you change it to an attack, it might use a two-handed weapon instead of that old rusty xiphos and shield. If you keep it as Attacker for a while, then change it to healer the effects on the equipment might be very interesting.

I'd reccomend trying all of them out, and seeing which you prefer.

I thought shield was nice to voke off while I skilled up...But when I was out goofing off with it on SAM, I switched it to Healer....Cast Dia, Paralyze, Protect, Aquaviel, and Cure. Also, Cured while I was above 50% HP, so it's even safer than a DRGs wyvern, when it decides to heal you.

            i still haven't tested Attacker.

Seems to me that as he gains xp, it unlocks jobs. After second run, I have Shield, Attacker, and Healer now.

unfortunatly, it looks like sheild/healer/attacker are the only ones we're getting for now if you look through the text files :/
